Also known as Spiderette or Spiderwort, Spider Solitaire is an extremely popular variant of Solitaire that will puzzle your brain for hours of endless fun! Spider solitaire is a variation of the classic solitaire game, Patience. The goal is to move all of the cards from the tableau pile onto the four foundation piles, building them up in suit from Ace through King. There are several different versions of spider solitaire, each with its own rules and challenges.
Spider Solitaire is a game in which all the cards in the playing field are initially placed face down. In order to win, a player must move all cards in the field to the foundations. A foundation is a row of cards each of a different suit with a card of the same suit at the lowest card in the row. Each card must also be turned over (either face up or face down) before being moved to a foundation. If the card being played has already been moved to a foundation before the card being played is moved, it cannot be played a second time. If a card remains on the tableau pile after all cards have been moved, or if cards are left at the bottom of the tableau, the game is won by that player.
Spider Solitaire is played with a standard 52 card deck, a tableau of 13 rows and 10 columns, and a foundation of four rows and eight columns. In cases where it is not possible to move all cards in the tableau to the foundation, the player who is closest to doing so after all cards have been played wins.
The game is usually played in one of two ways. First is the classic card game, which is to move cards on the top row of the tableau to lower row as possible, and then continue down the columns in the same manner. Finally, the player makes a move from the lowest card in the tableau, moving cards up and into the foundation. The second way the game is usually played is by first moving cards to the foundations, and then flipping over cards back up the tableau.
Spider Solitaire is a fun card game that can be played in a number of different ways. Many people find that playing the game in the more traditional method tends to be more frustrating than fun, but this is where the game seems like it could really challenge the player to their skills. At its heart, this is a thinking game, not a physical game. It is up to the player to figure out how to play the game and find the best way to move cards to the foundations.
Unlike other Solitaire games, in Spider Solitaire the cards from the tableau can’t be played in any order – when it comes your turn to play, you have to place the top card of the tableau in the empty space in the foundation. At this point, you can’t use extra cards, so if you get stuck, you can use your back-row cards to build the foundation and then play the rest of your cards. The idea is to play as many cards as possible from your remaining pile to win the game!
