A new video leak indicates that Samsung One UI 7.0 will bring smoother animations than ever. It seems the company has delayed the upcoming OS version for good. Users may find iPhone-like fluidity with the next One UI software upgrade.

X tipster @UniverseIce dropped a video showing smoother animations of the One UI 7.0. The clip is more likely a screen recording done on the Galaxy S25/Plus phone.

Note that the clip has been deleted from YouTube. But another tipster has managed to get it. Tap HERE to check the smoother animations of the new software build.

Although the interesting part of this clip is the fluid transitions. The overall motions like swipe gestures as well as the opening and closing of apps appeared faster and more stable. Users will probably have the best animation experience with One UI 7.

It doesn’t show any lag or glitches while opening/closing apps. Switching between apps is much easier and faster than ever. Just a simple touch and users will see quicker responses.

Some applications that were indulged in this animation testing are Gallery, Settings, Phone, and Camera. These appeared in redesigned icons. The Weather widget also gets a makeover with a thinner shape than the previous major upgrade.

It’s just the beginning and Samsung could make ever better changes with the stable version.

Huawei Mate 70 series will be different than past flagships in many aspects including AI features and gestures. The upcoming lineup is expected to use an upgraded AI sensing chip to enhance existing gestures and bring more such features to the table.

Weibo tipster @FixedFocus implies the Huawei Mate 70 series will equip a new AI motion sensor. This microchip may bring more features similar to air gestures.

AI sensing chip or a motion sensor ultimately tracks and identifies motion or signals made by the user’s hand. It recognizes these signals in real time and tries to process the data in the device to fulfill the user’s command for a particular operation.

These sensors are further combined with 3D depth-sensing lenses, infrared technology, as well as machine learning to provide accurate results in real time.

Huawei will likely use a more advanced AI motion sensor for the Mate 70 series to bring interesting gestures on board. Apart from air gestures, users may find more new motion-based features that will take the interaction to a whole new level.

The company is reportedly imposing new components to the Mate 70 series to deliver a perfect device experience. A recent leak suggested an upgraded ISP camera chip for improved shooting effects. It will likely bring a far better photography experience.

Now an advanced motion sensor seems to be in the components list.

What is Air Gesture?

Air Gesture is a useful capability that enables users to interact with their smartphone or tablet without touching the screen. It relies on AI algorithms and uses ultrasonic waves to detect and understand the hand gestures in front of the display.

One can take screenshots, scroll up and down, or left and right, answer a call, pause or play audio/video, and do various other with Huawei air gestures.

The OEM introduced AI air gesture with Mate 30 Pro. It kept upgrading the feature with new devices. The Pura 70 series is the latest example to support air gestures.

As of now, the tech giant is planning to introduce smarter gestures with the Mate 70 lineup. Let’s see what other changes we will get with the upcoming flagship.

According to the Honor Global page on X, the AI Agent:

“Phone assistants are not new, but by harnessing the power of AI, we’re proud to present the first on-device AI Agent for the open ecosystem.”

AI Agent understands the on-screen content and takes multiple steps to process the task. For example, canceling subscriptions. It also supports the Deepfake Detection Tech to help keep users safe from fake video fraud in the outside world.

The feature will enable your phone to auto-renew some apps. It may also let you command multiple tasks in one tap or one command. For example trip planning, ticket booking, and more. All these features will show up with the Magic 7 flagship.

In the advanced phone competition where Apple introduced the iPhone 16 with AI absence, Honor and Huawei are grabbing the surface with AI-oriented devices. After Mate XT, the Magic 7 series seems ready to take over Apple with AI Agent.

Apple will introduce AI features to iPhone 16 Chinese models next year. This delay could push back the U.S. tech giant in the smartphone race where its rivals are already hyping their new products with the AI smart features.

Google will likely change how the Quick Settings and Notification Panel appear on your phone, with Android 16. However, instead of being an effective and beneficial makeover, this new modification could annoy smartphone users to some extent.

The Android 16 Quick Settings and Notification Panel tweak has appeared ahead of the Android 15 stable release. Spotted in the Android 15 QPR1 beta, the U.S. firm plans to separate the Quick Settings and Notification Panel with the next upgrade.

Up to this point, Android software used to offer a unified Notification Panel and Quick Settings. But with the next Android version, Google could change this pattern.

Starting with the Notification Panel, users will be able to access the panel via a single swipe gesture. But rather than covering the entire screen, the panel will only take a quarter of the display. Notably, this gesture won’t let you access Quick Settings.

For the Control Center, users need to swipe down on the screen with two fingers. This could be slightly annoying as it ends the one-hand accessibility. Although Google might make new changes or enhancements to this segment in the time ahead.

Quick Settings will further reflect a dual-shade design throughout. Also, the brightness adjuster now appears in a thick pill shape and shows a text label, just like volume sliders. Users may also see 2 x 2 grid tiles and 4 x 2 grids for narrow tiles.

The Quick Settings will show 12-16 tiles per page. One can swipe left or right to access more settings. Light mode could be another addition. This is just an initial look and Google could make changes to these panels with the next versions.

Huawei Central’s Take:

Separate Quick Settings and Notification Panel – well, that reminds us of the Huawei phones. The Chinese OEM introduced this concept with EMUI 12 based on extensive research on user preferences and psychology. One can easily go through all alerts and notifications at a time without getting stuck due to Quick Settings.

Years later, smartphone makers started adopting the same pattern for their Android skin. Xiaomi’s HyperOS and now Google are examples in this case. But instead of making it a tough task, Huawei simplified the dual panels with easy one-finger gestures.

How Google will renovate this idea with Android 16 would be worth looking at.

On September 5, 2024, Honor launched the Magic V3 foldable in the global market with incredible features and high-end capabilities. The new folding phone will give tough competition to various book-type models in the worldwide foldable market.

The device measures 9.2mm when folded and is the thinnest AI foldable. Other dimensions are 156.6mm in height and weigh 230 grams. (Black variant: 226 grams).

Thinnest & Lightest Foldable

Compared to other book-type folding phones like Galaxy Z Fold 6 or the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, the Magic V3 is the slimmest, lightest, and most incredible creation. It is only 9.2 mm thick when folded. This is even less than its predecessor (Magic V2 foldable: 9.9mm).

When unfolded, the device becomes even thinner with a 4.4mm measurement. Thus, users will get a lighter and more amazing feel even holding the phone for hours. In terms of heaviness, here’s a short comparison:

  • Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold: 257 grams
  • Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6: 239 grams
  • Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra: 232 grams
  • Honor Magic V3: 226 grams.

The winner is Magic V3. Another mind-blowing point in this topic is, that Honor’s new foldable uses a 5150mAh battery. Despite a larger cell than rivals, the device is lightweight and offers a comfortable touch to consumers’ hands.

Huawei and Samsung are great tech vendors in the smartphone industry but when it comes to UI smoothness, the former is two steps ahead. In the race for a unique, personalized, and easy user interface, Huawei is leading while Samsung is lagging.

Samsung has been ruling the Android world with its high-profile Galaxy S series for years. Even though the company didn’t make dynamic shifts in the design, it kept upgrading the device with powerful Qualcomm and its self-developed Exynos chips.

The South Korean firm used AI features as another weapon to maintain its position in the global smartphone market. Galaxy S24 series is the latest example of smart AI features. It’s something that Huawei lacks in its overseas smartphone units.

But one thing where Samsung lags far behind Huawei is software and UI smoothness. While the former is still struggling to make its One UI more efficient and fluent, the latter seems to have mastered the field. How so? Let’s find it out in detail.

Samsung has been trying to improve its UI animations for the past three years. The company was said to enhance its software smoothness with One UI 5.0 (Android 13).

Test: HarmonyOS 3.0 vs One UI 5.0

Although Huawei pushed off the company in this race with HarmonyOS 3.0. The software dynamically responded to swipe-up gestures and other animation scenarios over One UI 5.0 during a test. It even surpassed the iOS 16 operating system.

On the other hand, One UI 5.0 gave sluggish UI outcomes with slow and non-fluent animations. Even though the company tried to improve this problem with One UI 6 and other versions, it persisted even on flagship phones like the Galaxy S series.

Samsung is still lacking smoothness in phone UI but Huawei no longer

Comparison of HarmonyOS 3.0, One UI 5.0, and iOS 16 UI (Image Credits: Ice Universe/X)

Animation Issues with Flagship Devices:

Users of Galaxy S23 handsets reported last year that they continue to face jittery animations on several third-party apps. The UI isn’t smooth enough and often lags while performing quick gestures or other important operations on the device.

“…All I’m seeing is micro stutters all over. Even YouTube is doing it for me now, so not only 3rd party apps. I came from an iPhone 11 Pro Max, due to 60Hz it definitely wasn’t as smooth. But it was ‘smoother’ since there were no weird lag issues like S23.” – said a Reddit user.

The problem continues…

A reliable tipster @UniverseIce recently said that Samsung is the only brand unable to achieve trouble-free system animations. While scrolling or swiping on One UI 6, the animation either cuts off in the middle or the app icons suddenly disappear.

Many users facing similar issues agreed with the tipster’s point. Despite AI features and sky-touching priced phones, Samsung disappointed users with UI smoothness. The problem might not have affected every Samsung phone user, yet it is there.

Huawei EMUI software and UI

Huawei, on the flip side, is making huge leaps in UI customizations and smoother animations. Whether we talk about EMUI 14 or HarmonyOS 4.2 the company has made its software much more fluent than any other OS in the current scenario.

A huge credit goes to Huawei’s self-developed Ark Engine. The tech giant has used a beneficial component that significantly reduces lagging and enhances smoothness. Compared to One UI, the latest EMUI 14.2 build offers faster image loading, smoother motions, and quicker app launches in Huawei smartphones.

Regardless of numerous apps running in the background, the software responds to the user’s operation in no time, without ruining the visual experience.

HarmonyOS NEXT vs One UI 7

Huawei is now focusing on HarmonyOS NEXT. The stable version is yet to be released. But ahead of that, many tipsters exploring the testing builds said that HarmonyOS NEXT is far smoother than other OS like One UI, iOS, and more.

Samsung is also working on improving the animation part with One UI 7. But whether it will be able to resolve the previous issues completely is still a question.

Not only the software, but Huawei is bringing smoothness to the next level with HarmonyOS native apps. Compared to other Android apps, these applications will be 20-30% smoother. Thus, Huawei seems ready to raise the competition for Samsung in UI smoothness.
