Compelling Story with Layered and Exciting Narratives

As far as the story, it starts with an exciting intro cutscene. You see a young woman running near a cliff, a manor being seen in the distance. At first, it seems like she just went for a stroll in the middle of the night, but as the background music picks up you realize she is being chased. It is unclear who is chasing her, and all we can see is someone with a trench coat, a hat, and a heavily obscured face. This person catches up to her and sedates her, her fate unknown.

As you begin the game properly, you take control of a writer that is invited by her sister to her manor at the coast. You have to take a plane there, and upon arriving things are already not what they seem; the entrance is completely broken down. You make your way past broken gates and electrified water only to find a body lying on the ground; it is your sister, and she is dead. What follows is an intense investigation where you’d never know who to trust.

Addictive and Efficient Gameplay That Will Hook You

The gameplay is not too complicated, especially if you played a Hidden Object game before. Much like the point-and-click adventure games of old, you go from screen to screen searching for useful items to unlock new areas and solve puzzles. Some items are simply keys to a puzzle, others are required to even start it. What you will be doing most frequently as a minigame is trying to find all the objects in a list, and your reward is something useful for your quest. But there are other kinds of brain teasers for you to enjoy, all rather varied.

The game also cuts down on a lot of dead time, so as to not detract from the experience of the game. For example, if you open the map you can fast travel to any unlocked areas in the game, so if you found the key to a cage that is ten screens away, you don’t actually have to go there manually if you don’t want to. The game also simplifies puzzles where you need to input codes. When you find a specific code for a place, when you go to that place there is a little piece of paper that tells you the code that goes there. It is easy to assume that Kelly passed the code there, and it makes us not have to memorize or write anything down.

Since this is a mostly grounded game, the puzzles tend to have logical solutions. In other games you might be in some otherworldly area that requires leaps in logic; this is not such a game. While there are some odd puzzles and solutions (such is the nature of these games), they all make sense and are easy to follow in the logic of this world. However, if you ever get stuck you can trust the hint system the game has, and most puzzles can be skipped entirely. While you should play the whole experience, you shouldn’t get frustrated with a specific puzzle and not enjoy the story to its fullest.

Unique Stylistic Designs That Elevates The Mystery

Art-wise, the game tries to be grounded in realism. The color palette is mostly opaque, and situations tend to occur at night. The design of the characters aims for realism, with them being clearly based on photographs of real people. The game has plenty of distinct characters for you to interact with that really flesh out the game world.

The different scene backgrounds are also aiming for realism, but with the sheer volume of items that they have to have on display, it is understandable that certain objects might be a little out there. However, they all play with the line of what is actually possible to appear in someone’s backyard, and it makes immersion possible.

Conclusion

Dead Link Pages Torn is a really immersive story with its roots firmly set on films of old where everything that surrounds you isn’t what it seems. Get ready to get hooked into this mystery and get to the real bottom of what happens behind the scenes.
