All these smartphone lineups are expected to debut this month. The official launch time for these models is missing. But the latest leak gives a hint on this matter.

The tipster says that the Honor Magic 7 series will likely debut on October 30. The company will first launch the X60 phone for its consumers after the Chinese National holidays. Later, it might unveil the flagship Magic 7 series with dynamic features.

Since the Magic 7 series obtained the 3C certification, it seems ready to debut later this month. Honor is yet to confirm this news thus, let’s take this info as a grain of salt.

Other phone series like Vivo X200 may launch on October 14 whereas, the Xiaomi 15 models could step on the consumer platform by October 20.

Note that the respective brands have not announced the launch dates for the upcoming devices yet. Hence, we have to wait for some more time to know the official information regarding these handsets.

Honor Magic 7 series will likely debut with five models. The 3C certification reveals two new satellite-based handsets in addition to the Pro and Ultimate models. The names of these models aren’t clear but they might be similar to their predecessors.

Magic 7 series will equip the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset. It is said to use high-end camera capabilities for an impressive photography experience. Also, Honor has confirmed its first-ever AI agent with several smart features for the flagship lineup.

We may hit more details and key specs of the Magic 7 series in the upcoming days.

The firmware is a bit huge compared to regular security patches and aims to improve the user experience. It contains a lot in the changelog. So let’s get started!

Starting with the software version, the Huawei Mate X5 series (standard and the Collector’s Edition) gets the camera improvements update with the HarmonyOS 4.2.0.130 version. You need the 4.2.0.128 baseline build to jump on the new firmware.

The update comes in two parts. The first one consists of optimizations for the system as well as the camera. It enhances optical features for a better photography user experience. Next, the latest software build boosts the usability of some apps.

If you were facing any lags, freezing, or apps crashing in previous builds, it will get fixed with this firmware. Further points count system stability for better performance.

June 2024 security patch falls in the second part. It resolves privacy issues and related bugs in the device system, making it tougher against malware. This new rollout is currently in the early stages and will take time to cover all the Mate X5 units.

Jeff Pu an analyst at Haitong International firm reports that the first Apple iPhone foldable may launch in late 2026. He adds that the device could bring a 7.9-inch display panel as well as a “wrap-around foldable” design format (outward folding).

Detailing the appearance, Jeff mentioned that the Apple iPhone foldable may look similar to the Huawei Mate Xs 2 when unfolded. Note that the outer folding form factor helps the device from hinge or crease damage and makes it more durable.

Other than the folding device, the analyst said that a 20.3-inch foldable MacBook is also on the way and might initiate mass production by the end of 2025.

Jeff didn’t reveal much about the upcoming iPhone fold. But it looks like the American tech giant is trying to copy Huawei while making its first-ever foldable.

Huawei Fold-Out Screen Devices:

The Chinese phone maker introduced the fold-out screen device as Mate X (Mate Xs for global) in November 2019. The OEM adopted this design for Mate Xs 2 and Mate X2. Hereafter, the firm ditched this form and opted for a dual-screen outlook.

Huawei Mate X5, for example, launched with a dual-screen design with an external screen and internal folding mechanism. Still, Mate Xs 2 count as one of the most light, thin, and durable outwards foldable smartphones in the market.

Mate Xs 2:

Huawei Mate Xs 2 features a 6.5-inch main display and expands to 7.8-inch after unfolding. The display has a 2480 x 2200 pixels resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate.

It further supports a 240Hz touch sampling rate, 1.07 billion colors, and is capable of 45% increased anti-reflection. It sports a tri-cam setup on the rear side with a 50MP main shooter, an 8MP 3x zoom telephoto lens, and a 13MP ultra-wide snapper.

The device packs a 4880mAh battery with a 66W superfast charging facility and supports multiple features like multi-window, quick swipe gestures, and intuitive UI. It would be worth seeing what else Apple might copy from Huawei in future.

A Weibo tipster @YuZhongguo has recently checked the Huawei Pura 70 Ultra telescopic lens durability via a test. The results show that the flagship phone has an amazing pressure-bearing ability, which is almost unbeatable by other rivals.

The blogger initially kept the Mate X2 foldable on Huawei Pura 70 Ultra’s retractable lens. Note that the folding device weighs around 295 grams. In the next stage, Yu placed a weight bar worth 50 grams, gradually increasing the pressure on the module.

At the final stage, the tipster kept two more weight bars (20g + 10g) and waited. To this point, the device’s retractable (telescopic) camera lens lost its resistance.

Thus, the lens holds up a total weight of 365 grams (295 + 75 grams). But as soon as the tipster kept an additional 10g bar, the camera bump no longer carried it.

Weibo tipster @FixedFocus says that Huawei could showcase its first triple-foldable smartphone in June this year. While many netizens were expecting the tri-fold launch in May 2024, the tipster cited that users need to wait for a little longer.

The post further reads that the mass production of the triple-foldable handset depends on the debugging results of the device. Here, the term ‘debugging’ reflects the process of finding and fixing errors in the source code of a device (software).

A previous report said that Huawei has geared up the development of its triple-fold phone and may launch it as soon as the second quarter of this year. Thus, things seem to be on track in this matter and we could hear the official launch news soon.

The blogger also mentioned that the world’s first tri-folding product appears mysterious. There aren’t any details of the key specs or other parameters of Huawei’s innovative phone. Yet, it is expected to bring advanced tech-pack features and functionalities.

As per the earlier revelations, Huawei is working on a 10-inch (25.4 cm) triple-folding phone. It will likely carry a tablet-like form factor and mainly target high-end tech vendors’ products such as Samsung Z Fold and Apple iPad.

Moreover, Huawei’s new product may possess the Z-shape when folded twice, exhibiting a dynamic layout. It could act as a game changer in the global smartphone market. Although things are currently behind the scenes, and we need to wait till June for the official inputs on this subject.

The latest information coming from market research firm, TrendForce revealed that Huawei is working on a triple-foldable screen phone. Related to the development, the researcher shared that this phone is progressing smoothly.

Interstingly, Huawei could launch this new triple-foldable phone in March 2024. The launch timeline mentioned above indicates that the phone will be unveiled alongside the Huawei P70 series, if not booked for a separate event. Earlier this year, Huawei also launched Mate X3 side folding phone with Huawei P60 Pro.

Display Supply Chain Insider, Ross Young said that Huawei had the phone on hold for about 6 months and expected to arrive by the end of this year. However, the company may have delayed the plans after the success of the Huawei Mate 60 Pro.

Aside from this, the report mentions that there will be ‘two’ triple-foldable screen phones that will launch in 2024. However, there’s no specific revelation whether these two phones will come only from Huawei or any other smartphone maker.

It’s also possible that Samsung might bring the other half of these two next-gen foldable devices. But we’ll have to wait for more details on this matter.

Past Launches:

In 2019, Huawei introduced Mate X, the first-ever outward folding tablet size foldable device at MWC. Subsequently, Huawei unveiled the Mate Xs, which is an upgraded version of the predecessor featuring an integrated 5G chipset.

In 2021, Huawei brought the Mate X2, its first side inward-foldable smartphone with dual screen solution. Meanwhile, Huawei launched flip-style – P50 Pocket and Pocket S devices as well. This year, Huawei added Mate X3 and Mate X5 in the foldable screen device arsenal.

Competitiveness:

The addition to the launch of new foldable smartphones from more phone makers, the market continues to grow in this particular segment. Initially, the main barrier to foldable phone shipment lies in its pricing, which goes above the premium segment.

Market competitiveness and continued development of new components would help to reduce the overall device price. Therefore, the next phase of foldable smartphones would concentrate on the design and the pricing.
