Huawei is rolling out a new HarmonyOS NEXT public beta update and it added new exFAT file support among other new improvements. The company has released HMOS NEXT version 0.0.71 (SP1) with 456 megabytes of download size.

exFAT

This HarmonyOS NEXT update has added support for exFAT file system format. This will enable the operating system to detect additional external storage devices.

Extensible File Allocation Table (exFAT) is a file system that is an upgraded version of FAT32. It enables the system to efficiently process large files and storage devices.

It was first introduced in 2006 by Microsoft to replace FAT32 on devices with flash memory such as USB and SD cards. FAT32 has a 4GB size limit but exFAT could handle much larger files.

Furthermore, exFAT is supported by various operating systems including Windows, macOS, Linux, and Android. This allows the user to seamlessly share files between different devices.

Charging and other improvements

The new update boosts turbocharging mode to improve overall user experience. The firmware also improves the user interface and optimizes system stability for better performance.

There’s a fix for Celia keyboard which resolves some issues with character position. On the other hand, devices with facial recognition have been facing issues with random unlock errors, which is addressed with this software.

The contact app is getting a new fix for issues in deleting and merging similar contacts. Eventually, the update has optimized the system for a better user experience in some situations.

Beta

Released on October 8, the public beta campaign has gathered more than a million users. The current activity is limited to flagship devices and will expand to other models as the activity progresses.

The program has unlimited test slots and any users with eligible devices can opt for public beta, folowed by OTA release.

Have you ever been in a hurry situation and found your Huawei phone at 1% battery? At that time, users wish for magic that can boost the device’s battery instantly. Thanks to HarmonyOS 4.2 Turbo Charging, a quick boost is now possible.

Turbo Charging came into existence in 2022. Huawei introduced it as a useful feature to give a quick charge to flagship phones. After some time, the company brought the significant tool for selected global handsets with the EMUI 13 upgrade.

Over time, Huawei has upgraded this feature with new improvements as well as better enhancements. With HarmonyOS 4.2, the company has rolled out the Turbo Charging feature to many old models like Mate 40 Pro, Nova 8/7 series, and more.

As the name suggests, Turbo Charging is a fast, safe, and efficient feature to charge Huawei devices in no time. Unlike the traditional charging capability, users don’t have to wait for hours to get their phone’s battery to reach at least 50 or 60% level.

Don’t worry as this feature won’t require any additional charger or cable. But users should have the original SuperCharge adapter and data cable that has come with the device. Now let’s learn how to access this effective feature.

HarmonyOS 4.2 turbo charging

How to enable HarmonyOS 4.2 Turbo Charging?

There are two ways to turn on the Turbo Charging mode. The first one is to touch and hold the center of the charging animation. (A small glowing animation appears as soon as you plug in your Huawei phone to a power adapter).

Holding the animation for a few seconds will display ‘Turbo Charge’ mode at the top of the screen. Touch and hold down on the center of the screen, until your phone vibrates and Turbo Charging displays on the phone’s screen.

Another way is, after plugging in the smartphone to a charger, enter the notification panel and tap the “Turbo Charge” in the turbo charge message box.

It is worth mentioning that you should grant permission for Optimizer to use this feature. Also, the Turbo Charging feature could overheat your device at a point. Don’t stress as this is a normal feature and doesn’t harm or affect your handset.

On August 5th, Huawei launched the Nova Flip foldable phone featuring a unique square cover display, improved camera capabilities, a durable battery, and a fresh design. Its new look is enough to capture consumers’ attention in the smartphone market.

So without any further ados, let’s jump into specs details.

The first thing that will catch your eye on the Huawei Nova Flip foldable is its distinct square display. Unlike Pocket 2 and other predecessors, the company has integrated a squarish external screen with rounded edges on the Nova flip-flop device.

Users can pick the device from four trendy colors which are: New Green – the star color, Zero White, Sakura Pink, and Starry Black. It has a dimension of 169.77 (unfolded) and 87.76 (folded). It has a width of 75.4mm with thickness as follows:

  • Plain leather: 15.08mm when folded and 6.88mm when unfolded, 195 grams weight

Hinge:

Huawei says its new device has gained the industry’s first Swiss SGS 1.2 million bending durability certificate. It uses a basalt water drop hinge, greatly reducing the gap and showing a flat screen after unfolding.

The double arm gear reflects a floating design and further allows easy opening and closing. Nova Flip brings the super anti-collision protection property for better durability.

The camera section adopts the company’s Da Vinci Portrait Engine 2.0 to generate amazing portrait selfies. It intelligently optimizes the shape, color, texture, light, and painting, making the face shape three-dimensional and offering beautiful portraits.

Users will find various filters like native, texture, and makeup under the new portrait engine mechanism. As a result, they will get a high-definition look, gentle makeup finish, or attractive effects as per their preference. One can also customize the interval time to click various shots at multiple angles.
