Huawei has launched the HarmonyOS NEXT closed beta program for the Nova 12 Ultra models. The activity is open only for the top-end models. It will reach the other variants of the respective lineup by the first quarter of the next year.

According to the details, Huawei Nova 12 Ultra and Star Edition handsets are eligible for the HarmonyOS NEXT closed beta program. The corresponding device owners need to sign up for this program to explore new features ahead of the stable release.

If you have the Huawei Nova 12 Ultra of its Star Edition then ensure the baseline version 4.2.0.162. Users can take the help of the My Huawei app to register for the beta activity. Open the app > Me > Upgrade and Try > follow the on-screen steps.

Apply and wait for the “review successful” notification. If your registration status shows “Passed”, you will receive the new beta version within 3-5 days. If failed, users need to wait for the upcoming update rollouts or beta programs.

HarmonyOS NEXT closed beta update will be an early testing version. We suggest taking a backup of your device beforehand to avoid data deletion. Also, keep 10GB of free storage space in your device to install the update without any interruption.

Honor has opened the MagicOS 9.0 (Android 15)  closed beta recruitment for its flagship smartphones. The company will unveil the new software system on October 23. Ahead of that, the OS is making its way to top-end models of the Magic family.

The company is recruiting several devices under the Honor MagicOS 9.0 closed beta program. The list counts, the Magic 6 series, Magic 5 series, Magic V2, and V3 phones. If you have these devices, you can jump into the software testing pool.

MagicOS 9.0 beta test is open for selected smartphones at present. But the tech giant may announce the complete upgrade plan on October 23. Hence, wait patiently.

Speaking of the beta program, the company is recruiting 2000 users for each model (1000 for log and 1000 for no log version). One must have the baseline version 8.0.1.173 or 8.0.1.172 to participate effectively in this beta testing activity.

The recruitment will run live till October 22. Hence, you have only one day left to register for this activity. Hereafter, the company will start pushing the beta version.

How to sign up?

Interested users who want to participate in the MagicOS 9.0 internal beta campaign need to ensure sufficient storage and a backup. If done, follow these steps:

  • Open the My Honor app on your eligible device
  • Visit the Club page
  • Select the MagicOS 9.0 tab
  • Click on “Upgrade to try”
  • Chose the Beta Program project

Once done, follow the on-screen instructions and fill in your correct details. Apply and wait for the review results. If selected, you will receive the new MagicOS 9.0 software version. Or else, wait for the second round of the beta program.

MagicOS 9.0 is full of interesting AI features. The software brings an anti-fraud feature that can smartly recognize deepfake videos and help users remain safe from bad use of technology. Another useful tool is “one sentence” which performs various operations in your one command.

Huawei has opened the HarmonyOS NEXT closed beta 2 program for the second batch of devices. After the public beta announcement, the company initiated a new software testing activity for other eligible models including the Pura 70 series.

The new closed beta program implies that Huawei will soon add second-batch devices to the public testing list. HarmonyOS NEXT public beta is currently open to the first-batch devices. You can check the complete list and details HERE.

Inputs reveal that HarmonyOS NEXT closed beta 2 recruitment is live for eight devices. The program will be in action till October 15, 2024, at 15:00 (Beijing Time).

During this period, eligible device users can participate in the closed beta pool via the My Huawei app. The company will review all the submitted applications within 14 days. Hereafter, it will start pushing the new beta builds to device owners.

How to register?

Open the My Huawei app on your eligible smartphone or tablet. Go to the Home and select Upgrade. Follow the on-screen instructions and apply for the beta activity. Ensure that the app is running on the latest build or the 14.1.9.300 version.

Important Points

Note that those devices already running on the HarmonyOS NEXT beta version don’t re-sign up. They will automatically get the new testing build, once the company begins the rollout. If you don’t receive the alert, wait patiently for the update.

Being a beta version, the new version could be incompatible with some apps. Also, take a backup beforehand using apps like Phone Clone, Cloud Backup, and Mobile Assistant. Make sure that your device has a 30% battery and 8GB of storage.

HarmonyOS NEXT closed beta is rolling out to some eligible device users with a range of exciting features. The latest testing version also has improvements to major segments of the device. It fixes a few issues found in the previous software builds.

The tech giant has already scheduled the HarmonyOS NEXT public beta for October 8. Ahead of that, it has now kicked off a new beta build for its eligible device users.

Pura 70 series, Mate 60 lineup, and the Pocket 2 foldable phones are the main models getting the new beta software version. The update is rolling out with the HarmonyOS NEXT.0.0.70 version. It also has a downloadable package of 1.59 Gigabytes.

Note that this update will likely be available to Mate X5, MatePad Pro 13.2, and MatePad Pro 11 2024 models. You can check the update availability via Settings.

Speaking of the changelog, the company has added new gallery features and smart tools to the device’s system. It has upgraded the MeeTime app with Beidou satellite SMS support. Users will also find a new background feature in the Gallery.

Huawei has further enhanced the SuperDevice capabilities. It supports multi-screen collaboration with all devices including PCs. Users can access a new earthquake feature that alerts users via notifications when detect an earthquake nearby.

MeeTime app

  • Supports Beidou satellite SMS feature. Users can send or receive messages through the Beidou satellite network without a cellular connection, to stay connected with the outside world. (Mate 60 Pro only supports Tiantong satellite)

Gallery

  • Upgraded the AI removal feature to remove irrelevant objects in photos, and erase irrelevant passers-by or debris in photos.
  • Added a new background decolorization feature that removes the background color of the photo and highlights the subject.
  • Portrait album now supports selecting your favorite portrait photo as the cover.

SuperDevice

  • Supports multi-screen collaboration between smartphones and tablets through SuperDevice. Users need to log in to the same Huawei account and the device should be running on NEXT.0.0.70SP3 or above versions)
  • Supports multi-screen collaboration with Huawei PC via SuperDevice (PC Manager version 13.x or above)
  • Supports connecting Huawei earbuds and smart glasses via SuperDevice (Bluetooth pairing required)

System

  • Added a new earthquake warning feature. When an earthquake occurs nearby, the phone will warn you a few seconds to tens of seconds in advance through the notification bar or the full-screen prompt pop-up window, and an alarm sound, depending on the magnitude of the earthquake, giving you more time to avoid danger.
  • Upgraded the scrolling screenshots. When the screenshot content exceeds on screen, you can use the scrolling screenshots. It easily freezes the moment on the screen and users can share them with friends/family.
  • After pinching the home screen to enter the editing interface, users can select multiple home screen icons to drag in batches.
  • Upgraded the Do Not Disturb feature which allows you to set a Do Not Disturb time. During this period, the feature will reject calls and mute the notifications to reduce interruptions. One can also customize the settings.
  • Fixed the issue that desktop icons cannot be dragged across screens to folders. Fixed the issue that the alarm clock cannot intelligently skip holidays.

Memo

  • Memo content supports intelligent typesetting, polishing, rewriting, and smart summary.
  • Supports voice-to-text features. It converts the input voice into text memo content synchronously.

Fingerprint

  • Fixed the issue of fingerprint unlocking with a flashing screen.

Sound

  • Fixed the issue of insensitive volume adjustment in some scenarios.

Alibaba’s DingTalk HarmonyOS native app version is ready and has joined the closed beta pool. The company has launched the respective application on the HarmonyOS NEXT AppGallery and eligible users can download it to enjoy the first experience.

DingTalk is a communication and collaboration service owned by Alibaba. It is mainly for enterprise users and helps them to team up with several clients via video conference or connect with 3000 members in a group chat room to collaborate.

The app entered the HarmonyOS NEXT app ecosystem in November last year. After core versions and features, the DingTalk HarmonyOS native app version is ready and open for closed beta. The company shared the news via its official Weibo page.

Inputs reveal that the DingTalk HarmonyOS native app version is available in the HarmonyOS NEXT AppGallery. For now, it is only open to users who have the latest HarmonyOS NEXT version. The company said to open the public testing after October 8.

But it looks like Huawei is giving some more time to users to sign up in the latest HarmonyOS NEXT closed beta activity till September 20 at 15:00. The tech giant has also changed the application review time as per the beta program extension.

Huawei is testing a new beta update with the 12.4.2.273 version of the Notes app. The company is exploring some more new features and better changes that can make the app experience more efficient and convenient for its device owners.

The Chinese phone maker has recently rolled out a stable update to the Notes app with various new capabilities. For instance, new templates, a one-tap gesture for certain tasks, support for importing pictures as fun stickers, dark mode, and more.

Now Huawei has started another closed beta activity for the Notes app with the 12.4.2.273 update. It brings a new input method and features to enhance the handwriting experience. Users will also find an AI multi-voice transcription tool.

From the name, the feature will possibly convert the spoken content into written text from a meeting or event, where participants speak in multiple languages.

If you have any of these models, then you can jump into the HarmonyOS 4.2 closed beta pool. Before proceeding you need to check if your device is running on the baseline version 4.0.0.120 to avoid compatibility issues during the upgrade installation.

Next requirement is to check whether your smart TV and Huawei phone or tablet have logged into the same Huawei account. Once done, go to the My Huawei application > Homepage > Upgrade. Click on ‘Early Access’ and fill in your details.

Huawei Watch 4 series has started collecting the HarmonyOS 4.2 closed beta update with a set of new features and capabilities. The firmware has fresh watch faces, improvements to battery life, and the addition of the no-touch car control feature.

The information reveals that Huawei is rolling out the HarmonyOS 4.2 closed beta for the Watch 4 series with the 4.2.0.336 version. Note that the update is quite big and you should have sufficient storage and 50% of the battery for the installation.

Watch 4/Pro wearable users who have successfully enrolled in the beta activity are eligible to download this firmware. Huawei said that it will soon initiate public software testing and consumers can opt for registration via My Huawei app.

Baseline Version:

Before you proceed, ensure that your Watch 4/Pro smartwatch is running on the 4.0.0.219 version. If you have not received the new version, you can try to install it manually using the Huawei Health app > Devices > Select the watch name > Updates.

All-Round Mode:

  • Added official preset dials for star map roaming and astronaut jump
  • Supports micro-physical monitoring 2.0. It now has 13 test activities such as pulse wave arrhythmia analysis, sleep detection, and hyperglycemia risk test results.
  • Added a new health trend analysis report to easily compare the last micro-physical monitoring data and track changes in health tendency.
  • Upgrades Family Care feature. It now supports viewing health data reports of family members.
  • Supports Huawei TruScreen 5.5+ to make health monitoring more accurate and blood oxygen as well as other test outputs faster.
  • Optimized the user experience of the hyperglycemia risk test and shortened the assessment cycle.
  • Supports risk screening during sleep, nighttime lung monitoring feature, COPD non-sense screening, and abnormal reminders. Adds sleep detection.
  • Added fat loss and body shaping sections. Users can now check the real-time display of data such as dietary intake, activity calories, calorie deficit, etc. to help them achieve their fitness goals.
  • Upgraded the female menstrual cycle. Added smart menstrual period prediction and menstrual symptom marking features. These additions support calendar view and donut view display.
Smart Car selection and Link features:
  • Added NFC car key and Bluetooth car key features for the AITO M9 and Luxeed S7 models.
  • Upgraded the watch version of the AITO app. Now it supports voice control of the AITO model. It can open and close the trunk, unlock and lock, etc., and supports the customized exclusive watch face of AITO M9.
  • Launched the watch version of the HarmonyOS Smart app, which supports the Luxeed S7 remote control car. Please go to the Huawei AppGallery to download it.
System Improvements:
  • HarmonyOS 4.2 upgrade supports setting 40 alarm clocks at a time.
