HarmonyOS NEXT smoothness is extremely good and surpasses its rivals like Apple iOS. After exploring the beta builds of the new OS version, some users shared their reviews. Among several aspects, the software’s fluency is mainly winning hearts.

A few HarmonyOS NEXT beta testers revealed that the smoothness of the new software is far ahead of iOS. Huawei greatly improved the overall flow of the device with the upgrade. App animations and transitions easily glide on the screen.

The software not only provides an impressive feel to the fingers but is also soothing to the eyes. A simple tap and swipe gesture is enough to perform a task.

Users who recently switched from an iPhone to a Huawei device said that iOS isn’t as good as HarmonyOS NEXT. This time, the Chinese firm has significantly improved the smoothness of the software. It brings a silky tactile feel with good visuals.

One of the HarmonyOS NEXT beta users said:

“The animation is truly smooth and pleasing to the eyes. I can just tap or swipe the screen and it’s even very relaxing. iOS is really a waste of time compared to its smoothness.”

It’s not the first time that Huawei HarmonyOS NEXT “smoothness” has been discussed among netizens. Some eager tipsters earlier shared their HarmonyOS NEXT experience and claimed it to be better than Android and iOS. Read More

An app developer recently pointed out that HarmonyOS NEXT is a good, unified, but closed operating system. He said that the new software is similar to Apple iOS in some aspects and requires a few changes to offer the best user experience.

Wang Boli – an app developer explored the HarmonyOS NEXT beta build and tries its features. During his exploration, Wang discovered that the new Huawei HarmonyOS NEXT is a closed operating system, similar to iOS.

Simply put, the new HarmonyOS version doesn’t support smartphones or devices from other brands. It will only work with Huawei products as it is a closed operating system just like Apple iOS.

Wang further said HarmonyOS NEXT is a unified and complete operating system. Yet it seems a bit difficult to understand in some aspects. Whereas, the third-party OS(s) appears relatively simple with minimalistic features.

The app developer anticipates that Huawei will enhance the new OS and make it even better in the future. We can expect more interesting changes as well.

HarmonyOS NEXT closed system

HarmonyOS NEXT is based on OpenHarmony, an open-source distributed operating system. Huawei says that the new OS is a true and real operating system.

Unlike the previous versions, HarmonyOS NEXT doesn’t contain any U.S.-based components. For instance, Linux, other system kernels, programming languages, and more.

But since it eliminates Android codes, it loses the points of supporting other apps except for the native ones. Yu Chengdong – the Chairman of Huawei Consumer Business said that HarmonyOS NEXT will connect many devices under various scenarios.

Huawei has achieved an operating system in 10 years that took the US and Europe 30 years to develop. It will slowly bring more new changes and useful enhancements that can be beneficial for users and other customers in every manner.

HarmonyOS NEXT brings amazing capabilities that have surprised Huawei consumers and one such is the file-sharing speed. The company has not only improved the sharing feature but also made it far more efficient than its rival operating systems.

During the HarmonyOS NEXT launch event, the company showed Huawei Share in an improved avatar. The feature is available on every Huawei device and enables users to transfer files, photos, videos, and other items across multiple devices.

It runs on Bluetooth and doesn’t require an internet connection to share files. Although the enhancement now comes in its speed. HarmonyOS NEXT has ultimately increased the speed of file sharing between devices, which is better than iOS.

While iOS takes around 14 seconds to transfer a 1.2GB file, HarmonyOS NEXT takes only 8 seconds. Thus, Huawei Share has become faster than Apple AirDrop.

The overall sharing speed is three times faster than the previous software versions. HarmonyOS NEXT utilizes a new distributed soft bus and cross-device connection that reduces power consumption and allows 4 devices to connect at the same time.

Multi-User Sharing

Another major upgrade to the Huawei Share is transferring files to many individuals at once. Earlier, the feature was able to share files to one device at a time. However, HarmonyOS NEXT upgrades the capability and allows sharing with many persons.

Next is the “touch-to-share” functionality. With the help of NFC, Huawei Share can sense and connect with any other device by just being close to it, to share files.

The feature is not only limited to the system apps and media content but can expand to third-party applications as well. Users can share Taobao links, Bilibili videos, and other app content. Also, one can share these files with just a simple touch.

He Gang – the CEO of Huawei Consumer Business said the touch feature will soon come to smart TVs, tablets, and automobile cockpits to offer a convenient user experience. One would be able to enjoy faster sharing than ever before.

HarmonyOS has made big leaps in progress and completed Android’s 17-year journey in 1 year. Despite numerous challenges in every field, the tech giant is keeping pace with its rivals. HarmonyOS NEXT may touch more new heights after its stable launch.

During the Huawei Connect 2024 event, Zhu Yonggang – the President of Huawei Mobile Cloud said the HarmonyOS ecosystem has completed the 17-year progress journey of others (Android and iOS) in 1 year. This is a big achievement for the firm.

The credit for this quick progress journey goes to 1000+ partners who have joined the HarmonyOS ecosystem. Some of these are Ant Group, China UnionPay, and iFlytek.

Android’s 17-year progress journey refers to its success rate in the operating system market. Both Android and iOS are considered the top smartphone OS(s). They are full of ultimate features, new customizations, smart tools, and AI capabilities.

Yet, these operating systems took 17 years (iOS’s first version: 2007 and Android’s first version: 2008) to reach their current status and achieve high success rates.

But HarmonyOS achieved new heights unexpectedly. Zhu says that it would have been impossible to begin HarmonyOS development again from scratch. Hence, the company opted to improve and upgrade its software with cutting-edge solutions.

As of now, HarmonyOS NEXT is much faster, smoother, and better than Android. It equips microkernel which is 3x more efficient than traditional Linux.

HarmonyOS 1 year progress

At the same time, developers and partners have been a great support in the HarmonyOS ecosystem’s development. They have made progress super speedy, compared to other operating systems. 900+ million devices already run on HarmonyOS.

On the flip side, the number of registered developers in Huawei Developer Alliance is 6.75 million (a 10 times increase in 5 years). The company also takes good care of its developers. It has been investing 6 billion yuan every year to boost developer innovation.

“HarmonyOS does not compete for profits, set limits, or stop. It insists on investing more than 6 billion yuan each year to support and encourage its developers to innovate.”

HarmonyOS has already outperformed iOS in Q1 2024 in China. With new features and upgraded capabilities, HarmonyOS seems ready to become the second-largest smartphone operating system in China.

WhatsApp is constantly exploring new features to make Meta AI more useful for its customers. After several testing builds, WhatsApp now expands Meta AI to various countries in multiple languages. There are also new smart capabilities in the list.

Meta AI for WhatsApp is now available in around 7 languages including French, German, Hindi, Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish. If you can’t find your preferred dialect in these names then don’t worry as the app will soon get more languages.

WhatsApp further states that Meta AI is open to 22 countries such as Chile, Mexico, Peru, and more. With a personal in-built app assistant, users can ask their queries, share ideas, or look for new inspirations by searching for their favorite interests.

The in-built app assistant also brings some exciting features such as Imagine Edit and Imagine Yourself. These tools open new doors of creativity and better interaction for consumers. Let’s learn about these new Meta AI features in WhatsApp!

Imagine Edit

Users can easily alter or edit an image by adding new stickers to it or removing unwanted items within the photograph. Just type “Imagine” in the Meta AI section and describe your snap. Once done, ask the app assistant to add, erase, or animate the image. However, this feature only works with the English language for now.

Imagine Yourself

It’s time to see yourself in a new avatar. Type “Imagine” in the Meta AI chat. Hereafter, users will be able to add details like “Imagine me in a retro pink and green ski outfit”. Meta will form that avatar reflecting the users’ image in it.

Users concerned about privacy can reset or delete this setup whenever they feel. The feature is only showing up in the U.S. but may soon approach more countries.

These new features will not affect the privacy of consumers. It’s just the beginning as WhatsApp said to add more significant capabilities to the Meta AI segment in the time ahead.
