A new Huawei Hi Enjoy smartphone has recently appeared on the 3C site with 40W charging. The device is currently in the developing phase and hasn’t confirmed its name yet. However, a new leak says that it could launch later this month.

Weibo tipster @UncleKanshan notes that a new Huawei Hi Enjoy series phone has recently received the 3C certification with 40W charging. It falls under the WIKO Devices brand and has the model number JEY-AN00.

The tipster reveals that the device’s codename is Jerry. While the launch time is unclear, the leak hints that the new Hi Enjoy smartphone could release this month.

Following the new input, a few netizens predicted that this might be the Hi Enjoy 70 Plus phone. WIKO launched the standard model of this series featuring a Dimensity 700 chip two months back. The company may now reveal its Plus variant.

Other details of the device are currently unknown. But we may find them in the coming days.

WIKO has launched Hi Enjoy 70 and 70 Pro handsets, inspired by Huawei models. These devices install the Dimensity 700 chip and come with new features.

The standing WIKO Hi Enjoy 70 model is available in three colors: Ice Blue, Snow White, and Gold black. It sports a 6.75-inch LCD panel with a 90Hz refresh rate and a resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels. The phone also supports AOD glance.

Unlike the upcoming phone, the standard Hi Enjoy 70 supports a 10W charging capability for the 5000mAh battery. It has a single rear camera setup at the rear end worth 13MP and a 5MP front-facing camera for selfie and video calling purposes.

The device supports HarmonyOS features like fraud prevention on calls, earthquake early warning alerts, and more. Perhaps the new phone will also bring more enhanced features over the standard and Pro variants.

Huawei is marching forward in the Chinese smartphone market with 10.8 million shipments in Q3 2024. A new data listing reveals that the company is doing great on its home turf, outperforming many rivals and gaining a significant market share.

The Chinese smartphone market report by Canalys shows that Huawei has sold 10.8 million units in Q3 2024. It obtained the second spot with a 16% market share.

Last year (same period), the company shipped 8.7 million smartphone units, capturing 13% of the market share. This time, Huawei earned a hike of 2.1 million units.

These achievements ultimately raised the company’s annual growth rate by 24%. According to the report, Huawei’s overall progress has been driven mainly by an active channel strategy to support its newly launched flagship products.

Canalys further notes that the world’s first triple foldable – Mate XT has also contributed to the company’s smartphone sales revenue. The tri-fold resulted in huge excitement among consumers for the upcoming Mate 70 lineup.

One of the Canalys Research Analysts – Lucas Zhong says:

“Huawei’s Mate XT Ultimate, released in September, sparked discussions about tri-fold, driving attention to its coming Mate series.”

Lucas adds that Huawei, Honor, and other Chinese tech makers have now entered the AI phase with smarter features. These additions aim to enhance user experiences.

Apart from Huawei, vivo remains at the top with a shipment of 13 million units. Honor ranked third and sold 10.3 million phones but declined from the last year’s figure. Xiaomi is in fourth place and sold 10.2 million units, achieving a 15% market share.

Apple is standing in fifth position with 10 million unit shipments and has obtained 14% of the market share. But the annual progress dropped by 6%. Good news is iPhone 16 series is performing well in the Chinese market despite AI-less features.

The overall Chinese smartphone market in Q3 2024 has sold 69.1 million units, an increase of 4% YoY. The respective sector is in its most active period of the year and may show new increments in the next quarter of 2024.

Pura 70 and Mate 60 series immensely led Huawei to the top 3 ranking in the Q3 2024 Chinese smartphone market. After the IDC, another report sheds light on China’s handset sector for Q3 2024, with dynamic results for the top five phone makers.

Counterpoint released the Q3 2024 Chinese smartphone listing today with an increment of 2.3% YoY. The top 3 rankers in this report are Vivo, Huawei, and Xiaomi.

Huawei ranked second in the Q3 2024 Chinese smartphone report, thanks to the Pura 70 and Mate 60 series. Counterpoint notes that the company has a strong foothold in the market. With constant determination, the firm achieved 30% YoY growth.

The report further states that the Pura 70 and Mate 60 series eventually contributed the most to Huawei’s sales this time. Launched last year, the Mate 60 Pro is still an in-demand product among consumers for its amazing features.

Pura 70 series on the flip side, is a major attraction point in the market. Its trendy design, camera capabilities, AI features, the Kirin 9010 5G chip, and satellite functions have boosted its shipment to 6.5 million units in just six months.

The popularity of both the lineups reflects Huawei’s strong presence in the Chinese premium smartphone segment. The company holds 16.4% of the market share and sits at the second position with an increase of 29.7% in the annual growth rate.

As per a previous report, Pura 70 and Mate 60 series also helped Huawei to outpace Apple in the Chinese smartphone market for the third quarter of this year.

Huawei even reduced prices of the Pura 70 and Mate 60 series following the Mate 70 series launch preparations. The devices are available at a low cost under the Double 11 sale event as well as the VMall.

Other Rankers

Speaking of other rankers, Vivo is currently leading in the Chinese market with a 10.1% YoY growth and 19.2% market share. Xiaomi took the third spot with a progress rate of 13.4%. The credit goes to the Redmi K series and Mi smartphones.

Honor and OPPO grabbed fourth and fifth positions respectively with a significant downfall. Meanwhile, Apple is standing in the sixth spot with a 2.6% decline in growth rate. Although the company is expected to rise soon in the Chinese market.

Counterpoint adds that more than 70% of the iPhone 16 series sales came from the Pro and Pro Max models, as of October 8. This trend could lead to a boost in the company’s revenue in the time ahead.

Huawei is improving its MatePad tablets with every new generation and these products may soon gain PC-level productivity. Yes, a new leak hints that the next-gen tablets could introduce more PC-level apps to enrich the user experience.

Weibo tipster @FixedFocus notes that Huawei will likely add more PC-level apps to its future MatePad tablets to increase their productivity. This will enable users to work more efficiently on their tablets, giving them the feel of a smart notebook.

PC-level applications can easily meet consumers’ demands related to heavy or complex tasks. Huawei uses a special PC software engine for such apps, allowing them to run effectively on tablets and even foldable smartphones.

A good example of a PC-level app is the WPS Office. It is a collection of office-based applications to create word processors, presentations,  spreadsheets, and more.

WPS Office has also launched the native HarmonyOS app version which claims to be faster, smarter, and safer. The new application will provide a more convenient experience to its users than before without being a risk to their privacy and security.

The respective app already supports many MatePad tablets. However, the Chinese tech giant launch more such applications in the future to offer a better and more reliable experience on tablets.

The PC-level applications could also come to the existing tablets in the time ahead. Other details on this matter are currently unknown.

Huawei has introduced several tablets this year. The new launches count MatePad Pro 12.2, MatePad 12 X (Air 2024), MatePad 11.5 S, MatePad SE 11 2024, and more. It also announced new commercial tablets like the Qingyun C7.

At the same time, the company is defeating its rivals in the Chinese tablet market every quarter. The OEM shipped 20.5 million tablets in the second quarter of this year and earned a market share of 26%. This increases its annual growth by 66%.

Meanwhile, changes like PC-level apps and productivity for the upcoming MatePad tablets will boost Huawei’s shares in the Chinese tablet market, giving a tougher spot to Apple iPads.

China’s SenseTime Group is using numerous Huawei Ascend 910C AI chips in its large language models. The company said that they opt for China-made processors to accelerate the development of the AI computing ecosystem in the country.

SenseTime Group is an AI company in Hong Kong, China. It develops techs like facial recognition, object detection, optical character recognition, image, as well as video analysis, autonomous driving, remote sensing, and large AI models.

U.S. sanctions hit many Chinese companies years back and SenseTime is one of them. The OEM can not access advanced technologies for its next-gen AI LLMs. The same case is with Huawei which is facing difficulties but aims for self-reliance.

SenseTime is seemingly helping Huawei expand its AI chip ecosystem in the country. In a recent interrogation, the Vice President of SenseTime – Alvin Zou revealed that their new AI Data Center uses a “lot of” Huawei Ascend 910C AI chips.

Apart from Huawei, Biren Technology and some other Chinese chipmakers have provided AI processors for the new data center. Alvin pointed out that Huawei’s Ascend 910C delivers significant performance improvement over other AI chipsets.

He further notes that China-made AI chips lag at some points compared to foreign processors. Yet, they are inching closer to better performance day by day.

“There are still some gaps between domestic chips and foreign ones in terms of training but in the field of inference chips, the performance of Chinese products is getting closer to that of foreign ones.” – said Alvin Zou.

Huawei is establishing itself as a major alternative to its foreign rivals for its Chinese customers. Whether it is Apple in the smartphone market or Nvidia in the AI chipset space. Although it’s still a few steps away from the U.S. chip producer.

Huawei AI chips (Image Credits: Huawei)

As per Bernstein Research, Huawei owns only 10% of the Chinese AI chip market whereas, Nvidia has 90%. It’s no less than an AI chip dominator in China.

Nvidia even said in an interview that it still receives more than expected orders for H20 every month despite China’s promotion of its home-ground AI chips.

Huawei and other Chinese chipmakers lack advanced chipmaking tools like EUV that help in improved chip fabrication. Yet, they are trying their best to rise in this game.

China is also constantly encouraging its firms and customers to use Huawei AI chips to boost AI computing ecosystem development in the country. iFlytek, for instance, launched recent AI models equipped with Huawei’s AI processors.

As more Chinese customers opt for Huawei Ascend AI chips, the company will progress in the chipset field. Huawei has started taking on consumers for AI Ascend 910C chip sampling. Let’s see how this activity progresses in the time ahead.

Huawei Nova 13 Series will launch tomorrow with improved specifications and AI features. This time, the company has seemingly adopted smarter AI capabilities to upgrade photography and network experience with the high-end smartphone lineup.

FixedFocus notes that Huawei Nova 13 series will bring new AI features. These additions will improve the photo editing experience to a greater extent.

The tipster says that users will likely witness smarter tools at tomorrow’s launch event that can enhance the overall photography experience. One can expect more interesting photo editing features apart from AI removal and image expansion.

Huawei has been offering smart AI editing tools to its new phones. Pura 70 and Mate XT are recent examples of this scenario. These devices have AI removal, smart cutouts, Image expansion, and AI cloud enhancement.

  • AI removal: smartly identifies and removes unwanted objects or passers-by from the background.
  • Smart cutouts: Selects and cuts out an object accurately. One can use this object as a sticker or place it on other images.
  • Image Expansion: Identifies the background and expands it to enlarge the picture.
  • AI Cloud Enhancement: It can identify faces even in a group picture of 50 people and improves the overall picture quality.

With Nova 13 smartphones, users may discover more AI photo editing and enhancement tools tomorrow. An official confirmation awaits on this topic.

Inputs further reveal that Huawei has resolved the “weak signals” issue with the Nova 13 series. Earlier, a few users reported poor network problems with the Nova 12 handsets. However, that may not be an issue anymore.

If you have been dealing with poor network scenarios, try to use these features: Click HERE.

The tipster states that Huawei will focus on AI photography and AI signal enhancements at the Nova 13 series launch event. How far the current leak is accurate will be known by tomorrow.

Nova 13 Pro on Geekbench

Huawei Nova 13 Pro has appeared on the Geekbench ahead of the official unveiling. The listing shows that the device bears the Kirin 8000 chipset. Also this time, the company has only showcased two Nova 13 models: standard and Pro.

Perhaps the Ultra variant will directly debut in the event. The internal specs seem a bit similar to the previous-gen models. Although changes will likely be visible in terms of design, camera, and AI features.

Huawei Nova 12 Pro may only be available at online shopping stores after the Nova 13 series launch. The company could remove the previous-gen handsets to promote the upcoming high-end lineup and increase sales in the smartphone market.

UncleKanshan notes that the Huawei Nova 13 series launch may affect its predecessors to some extent. The Nova 12 Ultra and Lite models could continue to sell in online and offline stores. However, that won’t be the case with the Pro variants.

The tipster says that Huawei will likely remove the Nova 12 Pro from offline shelves and make it available only in online stores. It won’t be discontinued completely but will be present partially in the Chinese smartphone market.

Consumers would still be able to purchase the respective model, but only from the VMall and other online shopping channels. Any such news for the standard Nova 12 is currently missing. We may get accurate details after the Nova 13 series launch.

Huawei often removes its previous-gen devices from the shopping stores for the new ones. The company adopted the same strategy during the Pura 70 launch. It removed the P60 series from the VMall just a few weeks after the Pura 70 release.

Earlier it seemed a software glitch. But the situation is still the same. P60 and Nova 12 series are demanding handsets in the market. Thus, Huawei might opt for this strategy to catch the consumers’ attention over new products than previous ones.

Huawei will unveil Nova 13 series smartphones on October 22. The devices are already open for pre-order activity. Consumers can visit the VMall and pay a 100 yuan deposit to reserve the device (standard or Pro) ahead of its official unveiling.

Nova 13 Pro is coming in a new avatar. The standard variant shows a similar design to the Nova 12. However this time, the company has enhanced the Pro model’s design. You can check the differences between Nova 13 and 13 Pro HERE.

iPhone 16 Pro Max lags behind Huawei Pura 70 Ultra in many aspects and one such is the telephoto lens. A recent report by DXOMARK shows that Apple’s new device is struggling to match the level of Chinese smartphones in the photography race.

DXOMARK performed a new comparison test between the iPhone 16 Pro Max and Huawei Pura 70 Ultra for a telephoto lens. The participant list also includes other flagship smartphones like Xiaomi 14 Ultra and Vivo X100 Pro.

The reviewer noted that Apple has improved the telephoto camera and its features with the iPhone 16 Pro Max to a significant extent. However, it still cannot match the level of the Huawei Pura 70 Ultra and other Chinese premium devices.

Inputs further reveal that the Apple iPhone 16 Pro Max’s telephoto lens struggled with the focal length operations. The device exhibits more noise while capturing the images. Meanwhile, the skin details in the image demand more clarity.

DXOMARK notes that iPhone 16 Pro Max detail processing isn’t as good as the Chinese models. It failed to show improved picture quality and better refinement in the landscapes. The color accuracy also feels pale than other handsets.

Comparatively, the Pura 70 Ultra and the other two models performed quite well with their telephoto camera. These devices portrayed better and sharper details with smoother facial skin. Overall results are far superior to the iPhone 16 Pro Max.
