]]> Huawei today announced two new 27-inch QHD display variants for the MateView SE monitor. The device is available at the VMall store for the pre-sale activity. Interested consumers can visit the official online store to book the device in advance.

QHD refers to Quad High Definition display resolution. It measures nearly 2560 x 1440 pixels and offers higher pixel density than regular HD display panels.

A higher-resolution display offers sharper, more detailed, and more vibrant images. It simplifies other visual operations like video editing, graphics designing, and more.

Details reveal that Huawei MateView SE is getting two new 27-inch QHD display variants. One of these is a standard bracket version while the other is a rotating one.

  • MateView SE 27-inch QHD (bracket) – 849 yuan

Specifications:

Both monitors use a 27-inch display with a 100Hz refresh rate, 95% DCI-P3 color gamut, 100% sRGB color gamut, 300 nits peak brightness, and multi-screen identical color support. It also has low blue light and no-flicker properties.

The monitor features a three-side narrow design and bears a 100 x 100mm wall-mounting hole. It supports HDMI and DP interfaces. MateView SE further has a lifting and rotatable bracket that supports the pitch and angle adjustment from 0 to 90 degrees.

One can choose from two e-book modes: Classic Black-White and Paper Reading for a smooth and clear viewing experience. It has a dimension of 614 x 420-530 (standard) x 201 mm with a bracket and weighs 5.3kg.

Simply put, the architecture looks after the app installation and relevant operations in the HarmonyOS NEXT devices. It checks if an app is running accurately.

Star Shield Security further enhances the AppGallery in the HarmonyOS NEXT. Huawei says that the new App Store in the latest software contains 200 detection capabilities. These components trace every app present in the application store.

Also, several experts review apps before listing them on the AppGallery. If an application and its codes do not meet HarmonyOS NEXT security standards, the experts restrict it and don’t list it on the AppGallery.

“Codes and applications that do not meet security requirements cannot be put on the AppGallery or installed on devices. Every app is traceable with a real name.” says Huawei.

This addition claims that HarmonyOS NEXT makes the app installations safer than ever before. It keeps an eye on the app while it downloads on a device.

During the installation, if the software detects an illegal operation such as an attack on private data, system, or more, it restricts the app running and stops the installation. Thus, your data remains out of the reach of third-party servers.

HarmonyOS NEXT also blocks 9 types of unnecessary permissions for installed applications:

Weibo tipster @UncleKanshan revealed that Huawei could launch the Hi MateBook 14 PC later this month. It might be available in major stores by October 25th. Meanwhile, the company may release it officially in the last week of this month.

The leak implies that the new notebook will have a 14-inch screen. Due to the “Hi” term, it could be shelved under the WIKO brand in the future. But things aren’t very clear at the moment. Let’s wait for some more days to get exact details on this topic.

A netizen asked if the Hi MateBook will continue the adaptation to Intel and Windows or use HarmonyOS. In response, the tipster confirmed the former option.

Earlier, the Hi MateBook was expected to launch with HarmonyOS PC as the new smart selection product. However, several other inputs mentioned that Huawei’s new computer-dedicated software won’t be launched earlier than Q2 or Q3 2025.

The OpenHarmonyOS 5.0 version is released by OpenAtom Foundation. Developers will find major changes in the app development kit, ArkUI, and other segments. These modifications will provide clearer logic and scenario-based views.

Further details in the changelog show refinements for network stability, distributed data management, richer encodings for media, and optimized power supply. Developers can quickly develop apps using enhanced Web capabilities with upgraded tools.

OpenHarmony 5.0 Changelog

The Custom nodes and Native rendering nodes are open. Custom nodes are node objects that have some basic capabilities of underlying entity nodes. These nodes can be mixed with native components through custom placeholder nodes.

Custom nodes can have the ability to calculate the layout of a single node, set basic properties, set event monitoring, and customize the drawing and rendering content. It includes three types of objects: FrameNode, RenderNode, and BuilderNode.

  • BuilderNode: Provides a custom BuilderNode that can mount native components.
  • FrameNode: Provides a custom FrameNode, which represents the entity node of the component tree. NodeController can mount it to NodeContainer through the FrameNode held by BuilderNode, or obtain RenderNode through FrameNode and mount it to other FrameNodes.
  • RenderNode: Provides self-drawing rendering node RenderNode to support custom drawing requirements on the Native side.
  • NodeController: NodeController implements operations such as creation, display, and update of custom nodes. It is responsible for mounting custom nodes on NodeContainer.

Other enhancements in the ArkUI section include the NDK capability for the third-party framework components. It covers component creation, property setting, event registration, customization capabilities, and component tree construction.

The Navigation component has more enhanced capabilities, including single-column and double-column switching effects, interruption and continuation of transition animations, and the ability to monitor the page life cycle.

The control visuals, animations, and interactions have been refreshed and added support for aging-friendly interfaces, mirrored languages, and screen reading. Menu and pop-up components support developers in defining color, shape, rounded corners, size, position, and shadow.

OpenHarmony 5.0: Application package management

  • Supports access and management of application clones. Applications can access application clones through simple configuration.
  • Supports home screen shortcuts. Users can dynamically add shortcuts to the home screen.
  • Supports independent upgrade capabilities of system-level HSP and ArkWeb. It also supports independent updates of preset applications.

MatePad Air comes with HarmonyOS 3.1 out of the box. The company kept updating the device with new security rollouts. It already served the 4.2 build to home ground users. However, the respective software treatment was missing for global users.

Now the tech giant has released the HarmonyOS 4.2 update for the Huawei MatePad Air tablet in the global market. The update is currently rolling out in the Middle East. Although the company will soon initiate a broader software release.

]]> WhatsApp is releasing a new beta update for some testers that brings an interesting message draft feature. With this addition, the company aims to enhance the chat experience for users to a greater extent. Let’s learn about this new capability in more detail.

Spotted in the Android 2.24.20.24 version, WhatsApp is rolling out a new message draft feature. Note that this feature is only available to some beta testers at present.

The screenshot reveals that WhatsApp is introducing a small indicator in every chat that will show if any message is left unfinished. It’s a perfect tool for times when you often forget to send a text to a person due to being busy with any other work.

Enabling this feature will show a draft label in the chat, displaying some of the texts that you have typed but forgot to send. This label will remind you to send the incomplete message to the recipient as soon as you open the chat application.
