Honor MagicOS 9.0 and HarmonyOS NEXT Control Panel have allegedly appeared in a new leak. The details and overall arrangement of the quick setting icons are quite similar between both operating systems. Let’s explore them in detail.

Weibo tipster @RuiPlaysDigital shared an image of two Control Panels, claiming them to be of HarmonyOS NEXT and MagicOS 9.0. One of these is similar to an early revelation of HarmonyOS NEXT Control Center and adds consent on this matter.

The tipster says the only difference between HarmonyOS NEXT and Honor MagicOS 9.0 Control Panel is the arrangement of widgets. For instance, the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth tabs, audio controller, volume and brightness adjuster, and so on.

Meanwhile, other features and icons of these two Control Panels are quite identical to each other. The blur effect between the two also differs to some extent but possesses the same capability. Let’s explore both Control Panels one by one.

Honor MagicOS 9.0 Control Panel

The Wi-Fi and Bluetooth tabs are placed vertically on the top left, beside the hotspot section. Below these buttons, users will find the media player and two adjusters: brightness and volume. Settings and Edit icons are also visible above the hotspot.

At the topmost side, there is a battery indicator and other network services icon. The rest of the Control Panel is full of quick setting icons like ring, rotate, and more.

The live image shows an opaque background rather than a slight blur. But that could be the wallpaper effect. Other changes will be clear by the MagicOS 9.0 launch.

HarmonyOS NEXT MagicOS Control Panel

HarmonyOS NEXT Control Panel

The current appearance is quite similar to a previous leak. It shows merged items instead of separate ones. Just opt for a simple “swipe down” gesture to see all the icons alongside a large brightness adjuster, which is not visible in this picture.

All the icons and tabs appear at equidistance from each other. The tiny icons are now more round than ever before and seem quite big as well as recognizable.

One side of the Control Panel shows the setting icon while the other one highlights the editing option. The background seems more blurry, giving the effect of the main wallpaper on the Control Panel which ultimately makes it more appealing.

Concluding the points, the tipster said that HarmonyOS NEXT Control Panel isn’t the final version. Huawei could make more changes and modify it with the stable version. Thus, we may find more interesting changes between the two major OS(s) later.

Honor has started pushing a range of software features for its global smartphones including the new control center and notification panel.

Numerous tipsters informed us that Honor has released a new MagicOS software version for Honor phones. The new update adds Instant Movie, and Control Center, improves document scanning experience in Magic Text, and optimizes system compatibility with some third-party apps. The update also integrates the latest security patches for improved data safety.

The second package of this software update shows the new Honor Connect capability. This seems to be something like a smart device manager.

Control Center:

Since May 2023, Honor has been working on this update for the Chinese smartphones. The feature was released first for the corresponding users in June and expanded over the past three months for various models.

Honor Control center notifications center

The main aim of the new control center is to simplify the user interface. Looking at the design, new control center parts into different sections. This allows the user to reach a specific options in an organized structure.

For example, the wireless section is added on top, followed by music playback and sliders for brightness and sound. Next up is the quick settings menu and below you will see the smart device connection.

The notification is also separated from the control panel, giving a clean notification management experience. You can now access the entire notification via a swipe down from the top left of the screen.

Gradual rollout:

Some of the tipsters noted that they’ve not received such features with a new software release. This indicates that the Honor control center feature is part of a gradual global rollout. Therefore, it may take some to reach your model. However, you can also head towards the settings menu to look for a new firmware manually.

Thanks to the tipsters including Erfan hoseini

The Huawei EMUI 12 software work to redesign your smartphone in an efficient way, not only in terms of the interface but also in features, optimization, and a new notification panel. And Huawei offers two separate panels one for the notification and another a control panel.

By creating a brand-new notification panel and control panel that is based on an in-depth study on user preferences and psychology. The interface has been split into two independent sections, which improves interactions and makes it easier to tell apart elements.

However, what do you think about a separate Notification panel and control panel in EMUI 12? What does new changes appear?

Before EMUI 12, the notification panel and control panel were initially integrated into a single panel. But after EMUI 12, when swiping down from the top of the screen reveals the notification panel and control panel but in a very different format.

The notification panel is accessed by swiping down from the left edge of the screen, while the control panel is accessed by swiping down from the right edge of the screen.

Huawei Separate panels EMUI 12

Why Huawei brought separate panels:

However, these revamp in the panel brought because Device+ and audio were added to control panels in EMUI 12. In addition to the existing shortcut switches.  And after adding this above-mentioned shortcut, it’s difficult to have notification messages, shortcut switches, and Device+ all displayed onscreen.

To access them alternatively, you may have to slide or scroll the screen. You would probably assume that the pull-down interface is fragmented and difficult given the complexity of those activities. Even locating a shortcut switch would be extremely difficult.

To read alerts or access the control panel, simply swipe down on the left or right sides of the screen, respectively, when the notification panel and control panel are split into two separate displays. Using Device+, it is simple to enable or modify shortcut switches to suit your needs.

Additionally, the audio control panel is also very helpful having to launch and close numerous audio applications. The ability to switch between apps and choose a playback device is greatly facilitated by shortcut switches.

Meanwhile, for all these reasons, I personally think it a good idea to have to separate panel. Since EMUI 12 places such a high value on user intuition, there is also the Device+ function, which makes it possible to collaborate seamlessly across devices.

But it’s all about my opinion, what about yours? How much do you like the idea of a separate EMUI 12 notification and control panel out of 10 on the scale? Just don’t forget to share reviews with us.

EMUI 11 is a revamped version of EMUI 10.0 and 10.1 and it comes with substantial improvements over the predecessor. However, EMUI 12 is something new and we’ll conduct a comparison series between EMUI 12 and EMUI 11 before EMUI 13 comes out. For this, we’ll first look into the changes that have been made to the EMUI quick settings or control panel and check out the differences.

Time to dive in.

EMUI 11: Quick Settings

EMUI 11 quick settings have the traditional quick access icons with a switch feature, which you can enable or disable with a tap. Other than that, you can also change the brightness level through the slider.

Furthermore, the notification panel is attached to the quick settings. Similar to the last version, the EMUI 11 also comes with various customization features to add/remove icons.

The panel has a soft background color that helps you differentiate between the icon and the background.

EMUI 12: Control Panel

EMUI 12 comes with a brand new Control Panel, which is a combination of various services in one place. The Control panel includes a media controller, and smart device manager that helps you connect and control devices such as tablets, FreeBuds, and Smartwatches.

That’s not it, Huawei has retained the quick settings icons from EMUI 11 and added them inside the control panel.

HarmonyOS is a prime Huawei operating system that deserves to be at the top of the mobile software system world. On the other hand, EMUI 12 has been introduced with a user interface that perfectly copies HarmonyOS in many aspects including the Control Panel features.

As global users really want to know the differences between these two softwares. There we are going to put some light on this matter by showing you what it’s really about by putting EMUI 12 and HarmonyOS software side by side for the Control Panel feature.

What is Control Panel:

The Control panel in new Huawei devices takes the most common settings or options and put them on your phone’s home screen, allowing you to manage things in an easy way.

Let’s kick off our comparison from HarmonyOS 2.

HarmonyOS Control Panel includes four parts of the user interface – Media, Shortcut switches, Super device manager, and Smart Device controller.

The access to Control Panel is quite easy, you just need to open the Control Panel by swiping from the top right side of the display.

Talking about the sections, the media controls allow you to manage media audio playback on the device itself, switch audio apps, or switch playback to a connected audio device. The shortcut controls, enable, disable or set frequently use features on your fingertip.

The Super Device section lets you manage and control all of your connected smart HarmonyOS devices. Lastly, smart device control lets manage devices paired with the AI Life application.

The Control Panel lets you edit the switches, hide the super devices and edit devices for maximum usability.

EMUI 12:

When you look at EMUI 12, you’ll see a direct copy of the Control Panel Feature from HarmonyOS, as it features the same look. Meanwhile, there’s one change that you’ll see and that is the new Device+ panel instead of Super Device. While you can similar editing feature with the Control Panel in HarmonyOS.

As you can see, there isn’t much of a difference between the two software but you can surely give your own opinion on this matter.

EMUI 12 is the next major software update for Huawei smartphone consumers and it comes with loads of new surprises such as the new brand new Control Panel. This new feature allows you to enjoy different services in one place. EMUI 12 Control Panel replaces the traditional Notification panel + Quick Settings panel theory as compared to EMUI 11.

For your information, the EMUI 12 has separated Control Panel and Notification Panel into two different features to improve their use cases.

Using Control Panel is easy, useful, and easy to navigate but there’s a lot to explore.

Let’s dive into this feature.

EMUI 12 Control Panel is identical to HarmonyOS’ Control Panel. Once enabled the feature will let you manage the following categories:

  • Media and Connectivity Controller
  • Quick Settings
  • Device+

EMUI 12 control panel

Time to explain:

Media and Connectivity Controller:

This part of the Control Panel will let you use media playback control such as prev, play/pause, and next. You can also switch selected media output devices. The music-related features will ease the access of such actions without opening the music app itself.

There are connectivity options that let you choose active/inactive WiFi and Bluetooth connections right from the Control Panel. You can also jump into settings by tapping and holding the features for details.

Quick Settings:

This control panel has rebranded the quick settings and fed into a simple place to reach out your finger for the right place. You just need to tap on a selected quick settings icon and tap again to disable it. Simple! isn’t it? Sure it is.

Interestingly, you can always rearrange these icons or add new ones from the available shortcut settings.

Device+:

It’s a feature that comprises all of your connected smart devices such as tablets, earbuds, and others. You can connect the know devices with one tap and disable them with the same interactions.

Following the launch of the Huawei P50 series, the Chinese tech maker began to send a new software update to the existing HarmonyOS devices. This update comes with the new HarmonyOS Control Panel Swipe Left and Right Gestures, which provides simplicity to the users.

The new swipe gestures allow users to switch back and forth between Control Panel and Notification Center. First, open the Control Panel and swipe left to switch to Notification Center and the same actions can be done from the other side.

HarmonyOS Control Panel Gestures

Before the new gestures, the user had to open and close Control Panel or Notification Center individually. Therefore, you first have to close either of the screens to enter another.

This is surely a big relief for the HarmonyOS 2 smartphone owners that empowers great ease in terms of multi-tasking.
