HarmonyOS NEXT beta update has unlocked a new ‘lost hidden album images’ issue for beta users. Some device owners reported that after installing the latest testing version, they lost all the hidden images from their Huawei handset.

The company kick-started the HarmonyOS NEXT public beta program yesterday for first-batch devices. The list includes the Mate 60 series, Mate X5, and MatePad Pro 13.2 tablet. Alongside new features, the update also brought in a nasty bug.

Some beta users started losing their hidden album pictures after installing the HarmonyOS NEXT public beta on their devices. The problem is quite disturbing as “hidden images” reflect confidential pictures that users often hide from prying eyes.

Although Huawei has officially responded on this matter. The company said that the HarmonyOS NEXT hasn’t resulted in the loss of any images. Rather, it has moved all the pictures to the .hiddenALbum section and stored them safely.

The Chinese tech giant added that this is a normal behavior of the software. But it will be resolved by the end of this month with new beta updates. By that time, users can try some temporary solutions that can help them to some extent.

“…it is expected to resolve in the upcoming versions released by the end of October. Please refer to the actual release time for details. Please wait patiently for the system version update and upgrade it on time.”

Temporary Solutions:

Users can go to the .hiddenAlbum album on the file manager. Now select all the images and tap on the “More” tab in the lower right corner. Click on Hide.

Doing so will let you access the lost images and re-hide them from the main album. Other than that, those who do not want to hide these pictures temporarily can wait for the next version. The new update will automatically shift images to hidden album.

HarmonyOS NEXT brings various features on board. But being a beta build, it also leads to certain irritating bugs that hinder user experiences to some extent. One such is the ‘lost hidden images’ issue in the HarmonyOS NEXT public beta.

Hence, it is better to take a backup of your device before proceeding with the beta update installation.

WhatsApp now fixes the locked chats and filters through the latest beta update. With the new build, users will get rid of annoying issues related to the locked conversations and the chat filter. Let’s learn about the issues in more detail.

WhatsApp beta updates are well-known to introduce new features and capabilities. But often these builds result in nasty bugs or stability issues for users.

One such update is the Android 2.24.19.16 version. The company rolled out this build recently with the Meta AI assistant for business accounts. However, it caused issues with the locked chats and filters and restricted users open locked chats or choosing a filter for the chat list.

These features even went missing for some users from the app. The issues led to users’ frustration as they were unable to access these features, especially the important and sensitive conversations in the locked chats.

Filters section also stopped working and caused inefficiency in managing messages. Users tried to force-stop the app and restart attempts. Yet these proved vain. Finally, WhatsApp is sending a new beta update that fixes locked chats and filters issues.

The update is tagged with the Android beta 2.24.19.35 version. It is available to everyone. Users can download this build via the Google Play Store.

After Beta 4, Google is bringing a minor bug fixer update in the form of Android 15 Beta 4.1. The firmware is rolling out to selected Pixel phones that were dealing with a nasty calling issue. If you are facing the same problem then install the new update.

Google is releasing the Android 15 Beta 4.1 update with the AP31.240617.010 version. It holds a single bug fix related to the calling issue of Pixel handsets.

Inputs reveal that Android 15 beta 4 installation led some Pixel users to face voice call problems. During an ongoing call, the audio used to drop out or cut off for a few seconds and resumes when switching to speaker mode. A user explained:

“When I have phone calls the microphone stops working in the middle of the call. My counterpart can not understand me anymore. I was able to repeat that error but it’s not on every call. The microphone started working again in the call when I switched between speakers and phone.”

It looks like the company has now fixed this issue with the latest 4.1 beta update. The update does support all devices like Pixel 6 series, Pixel 7 series, Pixel 8 series, Tablet, and Fold. Though it will mainly work for those dealing with the problem.

  • Fixed various issues that sometimes caused device audio to crash while making or receiving calls.

The new firmware carries a software package of 3.55MB. Being a small-sized build, you don’t have to stress the device’s storage space. The company is pushing off the update gradually and will soon approach all the eligible units.

Android 15 Beta 4 update is out and this could be the last testing build before a stable release. The new firmware contains some essential bug fixes that will wipe out all the troubling issues found in the previous build and provide a certainly better experience.

Google has mentioned that Android 15 Beta 4 is the “last scheduled update” in the software testing program. Perhaps the next rollout will likely be a stable version with several interesting features and useful enhancements for Pixel smartphones.

“Today we’re bringing you Beta 4, the last scheduled update in our Android 15 beta program. So make sure your apps are ready and you have given us any critical feedback before non-beta users start getting Android 15” – Google.

Note that this is the second platform stability release version. The new firmware is rolling out with the AP31.240617.009 version. It brings several fixes alongside the July 2024 security patch. Although there are certain things to pay attention to!

For instance, Android 15 has pulled out the PNG-based emoji font file. Pixel devices will now run only vector-based files. There are certain known issues in this version. Hence, Google might kick off a 4.x beta build in the coming weeks. You can check the details below.

Huawei is releasing a new EMUI patch update to treat the heating issue of Pura 70 Ultra models. This is a significant rollout as it fixes some nasty system glitches and overheating problems of the device, making it more reliable for users.

Pura 70 series has already fetched the camera improvements firmware. It improves certain shooting modes and the optical framework’s stability. At the same time, the update also brings the May 2024 security patch to erase internal vulnerabilities.

But later, some Pura 70 Ultra users reported excessive overheating issues while using the smartphone. Even with normal operations, the device starts heating quickly.

To fix this heating issue, Huawei is sending an important EMUI system patch for Pura 70 Ultra models. The additional patch is arriving right after the EMUI 14.2.0.161 update and carries the same version with a different package size (2.61MB).

Changelog

  • This update fixes the issue where the device overheats in certain scenarios.

Other than this, the system patch doesn’t include extra changes. Yet you may observe a more stable and glitch-free experience after installing the newest update.

Apart from the Ultra handsets, the new system patch is also available for other Pura 70 models. Hence if you have been dealing with any such bug, you can install the latest improvement patch as it appears on the phone screen.

You can also check for this small update via Settings > System and Updates > Software Updates. Now let the device search for the latest build available on the server. Once visible on the screen, hit the Download and Install tab.

WhatsApp is rolling out a new 2.24.12.23 beta update for Android devices which improves the emoji keyboard. The latest update is arriving to some testers via the Google Play Beta Program to enhance the stability and app’s interaction for users.

WhatsApp is releasing the Android 2.24.12.23 beta update to fix the emoji keyboard crashing issue. The respective problem appeared while testing the new channel analytical feature that shows the overall performance of a channel to admins/owners.

The information reveals that when using the analytical feature, the emoji keyboard stopped responding. As a result, tapping on the emoji in the chat bar pops up a prompt saying “WhatsApp keeps stopping” with two options: App Info and Close app.

Further inputs say that the issue prevented users from sharing emojis, GIFs, and stickers with their contacts. It also affected the chat experience for many users.

Some users tried to restart the device and force-stop the app. But things proved vain and didn’t help them. Although WhatsApp is now bringing a hotfix to this problem. Those who have received the version can check if it is useful or if the issue persists.

It is worth mentioning that the beta version often creates such glitches and issues when testing new features. Hence you should install these builds at your own risk or else you may continue to face such problems in your chat application.

Google is now releasing the Android 15 Beta 2.1 update for its Pixel devices with improvements for the Private Space feature. The company tried to mend a nasty bug that has been troubling users for a while. Let’s explore the new firmware in detail.

Private Space is one of the significant features in Android 15 that enables you to hide private or confidential apps on the device. They have a separate section in the phone and don’t appear in the usual app drawer. Alerts from these apps also remain hidden.

While the feature is quite useful, some Pixel owners reported that after creating a Private Space on their phone a few icons from the home screen suddenly disappeared. Although the new beta build says to have a fix for this weird problem.

Android 15 Beta 2.1 update is rolling out with the AP31.240426.023 build version. It is available for Pixel 8 series, Pixel 7 series, Pixel 6 series, Fold, and Tablet.

Android 15 Beta 2.1 update

The update only weighs around 11 to 12 Megabytes, signifying that it’s just a hotfix version to eliminate glitches found in the last software build. It is worth noting that many users outlined the issue persistence even after installing the new update.

Some Reddit account holders cited that despite the Beta 2.1 firmware, all of the icons (bar the Google apps) still disappeared from the home screen on his Pixel 8 Pro.

Hence it may happen that the fix doesn’t work for you. If so, then don’t panic as the company will release more builds to rectify the situation and wipe out the bug.
