Huawei Nova 10 Youth Edition and Huawei Nova 9 SE are now receiving the brand new HarmonyOS 3.1 feature pack. This new update is expanding to old devices and comes with added new capabilities along with a better user experience.

For starters, this upgrade comes with HarmonyOS software version 3.0.0.300. However, most of the features belong to HarmonyOS 3.1. Amid the latest rollout, Huawei didn’t announce any specific plans to upgrade all of the old phones with this new update. Instead, it decided to jump right into the OTA update release.

According to the information, the selected model for this upgrade procedure is:

  • Nova 10 Youth Edition – JLN-AL00
  • Nova 9 SE – JLN-AL00

Comparing the changelogs, I’ve found that the company is sending June 2023 security patches to only Huawei Nova 9 SE. Meanwhile, the rest of the changelog detail remains the same on both smartphones.

Following the launch of the Huawei P60 series in both the global and Chinese markets, I thought that Huawei will release EMUI 13.1 and HarmonyOS 3.1 for more smartphones but it “apparently” didn’t happen because the build numbers remained EMUI 13.0 and HarmonyOS 3.0 for older phones. However, recently we’ve found that Huawei is already seeding these two versions to its smartphones and it decided to remain low-key.

It’s because there are some complications, which you need to understand.

For that, we need to go back to the last year, when Huawei unveiled HarmonyOS 3.0. Afterward, Huawei released a large roadmap of devices. It turns out that Huawei announced HarmonyOS 3.1 in later 2022.

Similarly, EMUI 13 made its debut in October 2022 and confirmed entrance with Huawei Mate 50 Pro in the global market. Yet, the company didn’t even talk about any new roadmap from that time until March this year.

Earlier this year, Huawei announced EMUI 13.1 and HarmonyOS 3.1 with Huawei P60 series and Mate X3 smartphones for both global and Chinese consumers respectively.

Although, there was everything going smoothly in China with HarmonyOS 3 but nothing is right for global smartphones. Therefore, the company wants to match up the game here.

Recent Changes:

Last month, Huawei released a whole bunch of features for HarmonyOS smartphones in China. These features are directly taken from HarmonyOS 3.1. However, the company is not keen on changing the version for any of the older devices.

On the flip side, EMUI 13.1 is derived from HarmonyOS 3.1. That’s how the features acquired by the global Huawei P60 Pro are a direct reflection of the Chinese variant.

Similar to China, Huawei didn’t announce EMUI 13.1 upgrade plan because the tech maker is sending EMUI 13 instead. This is why, Huawei will either pick a large update for global EMUI 13 devices to install new features or these features will come alongside EMUI 13.

Why not label them as the new version?

One possible reason for this could the promotion of Huawei P60 series and Mate X3 smartphone, which is labelling these two new version as a part of their key features.

To conclude, the mystery of the feature of HarmonyOS 3.1 and EMUI 13.1 is now resolved. You can rest assured that Huawei will get the new to your device (EMUI 13) either one way or another.

Recently, Huawei started releasing a new software update for the HarmonyOS 3 smartphones. Given the fact that this is no ordinary update, it has a bunch of new features. we’ve now come to an understanding that these new additions belong to HarmonyOS 3.1 and come directly to HarmonyOS 3.0 without a major change in the build version.

Huawei has already installed this update in its flagship. While more are preparing to catch this upgrade next month. Yet, the new feature package weighs only over 1GB.

How to identify this as a HarmonyOS 3.1 update? Well, the changes in this update were tested within HarmonyOS 3.1 developer beta. Also, the stable release with the Huawei P60 series also mentions such a feature.

However, we still don’t have an official confirmation, of whether Huawei has planned a separate HarmonyOS 3.1 rollout.
