Samsung broke many hearts after delaying the One UI 7.0 till next year but here’s a piece of good news – One UI 7.0 public beta is coming soon. The company recently confirmed this information through one of its official community moderators.

A recent discussion on Samsung community confirmed that One UI 7.0 public beta will launch soon. Some users asked if the new software beta will only be available to developers. The query points out users’ curiosity to test the latest One UI OS.

Responding to the thread, a moderator said that One UI 7 testing will soon enter the public phase. The company hasn’t confirmed the beta schedule yet. Once done, the new software beta will go to the public. Hence, wait patiently.

It looks like Samsung is giving some final touch-ups to its new One UI version. The Android 15-based One UI is expected to bring better upgrades, smoother animations, and effective features. Thus, the delay in this case seems good.

Further details reveal that users will be notified via the Samsung Members app about the beta progress. Therefore, we suggest keeping the app up-to-date with the latest version. Also, ensure sufficient storage space in your Samsung smartphone.

During the SDC 2024, the company confirmed that One UI 7.0 beta will be open for developers by the end of this year. Though the moderator’s words reflect that One UI 7 beta will also be available for the public right after or alongside developers.

Last year, Samsung unveiled the Android 14-based One UI 6 in October. But this time, the launch has extended to the Galaxy S25 series release in 2025.

However, the moderator’s latest clarification has confirmed that Samsung phone users may soon get the chance to test the One UI 7.0 software and its features. While the time is still unclear, it might be around December this year.

Being the latest flagship in the Samsung gallery, the Galaxy S24 series will be the first to fetch the new One UI 7.0 beta program. Meanwhile, the tech giant will add more devices to the list as the beta will proceed to the next rounds.

Huawei is offering unlimited cloud storage with HarmonyOS NEXT public beta program. It’s a simple functionality that will help users store their essential data and restore it in case they lose any information during the software upgrade process.

Inputs reveal that the HarmonyOS NEXT public beta program is giving free unlimited cloud storage for 60 days. This will ensure that users have sufficient space to back up their data and other important details before the beta update installation.

After registering for the public beta, a page will appear recommending to back up important data. Users can opt for the new cloud space capability that will temporarily store their data for 60 days (30 main days + 30 extra days). It reads:

“During the HarmonyOS NEXT upgrade period (before December 31, 2024), the backup records will be saved for an additional 30 days on top of the original 30 days, for a total of 60 days.”

A major benefit of this cloud space is – it offer unlimited storage that can easily store more data. Basic details such as contacts, memos, call logs, and more do not occupy cloud space. Users can also customize the backup items to store only important data and use the cloud storage space more efficiently.

HarmonyOS NEXT public beta cloud storage

While using this feature, users will see two options on the page. The first one will save data for 60 days (temporarily) without occupying the device’s storage space.

The second one will backup and store the data in your device’s space. Here, the data will be stored permanently and users can retrieve it even after months.

It’s not the first time when Huawei is offering such a service to its users. Last year in July, the company launched a similar facility free of charge. However the drawback was, that users could only store data for 24 hours.

With HarmonyOS NEXT, the company has opened a special cloud storage space service for beta users. But we suggest restoring your data before December 31, 2024, as it is a temporary service and will end soon.

It’s October 8 and Huawei launches the HarmonyOS NEXT public beta program for its eligible devices. The company has opened public testing for selected handset users. However, the current activity will soon be expanded to more devices.

HarmonyOS NEXT public beta program has brought an end to the long-running anticipation of consumers. Previous testing versions were limited to developers and early adopters. But now the company has extended the testing to public testers.

Up to this point, the company has pushed off several developer beta builds for experienced software testers. Now the new self-developed software is open to general device users to explore new features before the stable release.

The tech giant has launched the latest beta activity for the first batch of devices. The list includes Mate 60 series, Mate X5 foldable, and MatePad Pro 13.2 tablet.

Simply put, the HarmonyOS NEXT public beta version will be available to these device users right after they sign up in the current testing pool. They don’t have to wait for the rollout like the closed beta devices (Pura 70, Pocket 2, and more).

How to sign up?

Eligible device users can check the HarmonyOS NEXT public beta activity on the My Huawei app. Open the application and select the “Upgrade” or “Upgrade to Try” option. Wait for a few minutes and follow the on-screen prompts to register.

After completing the signup, users will immediately get the new public beta update with some interesting features and a set of new improvements. Users may also get a chance to test the new native HarmonyOS app versions and their changes.

Users can further share their feedback, and suggestions, or report issues using the My Huawei app > Community. It will eventually help in improving the software.

Points to remember

HarmonyOS NEXT public beta activity will push testing builds to devices. Being a new software, the installation may lead to the deletion of your data. Hence, it is better to take a backup beforehand to avoid any data loss.

Also, the company is still adapting some applications to HarmonyOS. It will detect and prompt the apps that are not available in the HarmonyOS NEXT AppGallery. However, if you face abnormal functioning with any app then don’t worry, as it is a normal software behavior.

Huawei has released a new HarmonyOS NEXT.0.0.71 software update to some beta testers and it’s suspected to be a public beta build. Although the accuracy of this update being a public beta version is still in doubt. Let’s explore this matter.

Weibo tipster @RuiPlaysDigital shared the screenshot of the HarmonyOS NEXT.0.0.71 update, saying that it is a public beta version. If true, it’s quite strange as the OEM scheduled the HarmonyOS NEXT public beta program for tomorrow (October 8).

The tipster didn’t mention any other details on this matter. It only said that the “0.0.71 is the public test version”. A netizen asked if the WeChat app will be available with the HarmonyOS NEXT public beta. But the tipster denied this matter.

It is unclear how far the current leak is accurate. Huawei has set the public beta program for October 8. This simply means that the company will begin things with registration and thereby, releasing the new HarmonyOS NEXT public beta build.

Another perspective is, Huawei has currently pushed this version to closed beta users. After October 8, the company may open the same build for public testing.

Huawei will surely clear the doubts on this matter tomorrow. Till then, let’s have a look at the new features arriving with the HarmonyOS NEXT.0.0.71 beta update.

The company has optimized the system performance and stability aspects to some greater extent. Users may find new security patches released this month.

The update further enhances the interface of the file manager, health app, and a few setting icons. The overall features and icons would be more recognizable than before. Next is the camera section. The firmware boosts the photo-capturing performance and makes the camera more responsive to users’ actions.

Other than improvements, users will also find native HarmonyOS apps on the device after installing this app. For instance, the REDnote e-commerce app and the Kuaishou video editor tool. You can check the complete changelog below.

HarmonyOS NEXT.0.0.71 Changelog

System

  • Optimizes the system performance and stability to make your device run more smoothly and stably.
  • Merge security patches to enhance system security.

Display

  • Improves the display effects of file management, sports health, and other interfaces and setting icons.

Camera

  • Optimizes camera performance and stability to provide you with a better photo-taking experience.

Application

  • New pre-installed HarmonyOS native apps such as REDnote ( Xiaohongshu) and Kuaishou video editor.

Note that the company has released the new update only to some beta testers for now. It might happen that after the public beta program, Huawei may push the same version for public testers.

A Weibo tipster suggests that Huawei may share the Nova 13 series teaser on October 8. Not only Huawei but many other phone makers could also begin pre-heating their high-end smartphones from this week, starting tomorrow.

Huawei is busy with the HarmonyOS NEXT public beta preparations. But it seems the company could announce one more product alongside the software offering.

Tipster @BadReviewEmperor says that the Huawei Nova 13 series and Honor X60 teaser will likely be out on October 8. Both devices are ready to debut this month and the respective brands could officially announce these handsets tomorrow.

Nova 13 series was expected to launch in June this year. Later, it was delayed till August and is now speculated to debut this month. The Chinese tech giant might finally showcase the new high-end models with impressive design and features.

A previous leak implied that the Nova 13 lineup could release on October 22. Thus, the latest information also adds consent to the nearing launch of Nova 13.

Huawei hasn’t confirmed the launch details for the Nova 13 models so far. But if the current leak is true, the company may announce or tease the new Nova handsets tomorrow alongside the HarmonyOS NEXT public beta program for eligible devices.

The Nova 13 series could bring an upgraded appearance over the Nova 12 handsets. It may feature new capabilities and enhanced satellite features with better connectivity. Perhaps, users will experience a more seamless satellite performance.

Earlier, a tipster said that Huawei Nova 13 series will run on the Kirin 9010 chipset and will be 5G capable. It would be a great piece of news as the Nova 12 series did not have 5G capability for all models. It remains confined to high-end variants.

Consumers may find the same dual-front camera setup as the previous-gen models. Although Huawei might enhance this segment with an upgraded XMAGE imaging system. Read More…
