The Chinese phone maker will host the HDC 2024 event for three days till June 23. During these three days, the OEM will unveil the HarmonyOS NEXT beta, a large Pangu 5.0 model, new Huawei Cloud services, and AI-based facilities for consumers.

Attendees will hear keynotes from Huawei’s senior executives like Zhang Pingan, Yu Chengdong, He Gang, and more. Some fun activities are also on this list.

Huawei will lay out its HarmonyOS NEXT and related plans on the first day – June 21. Consumers will witness the Pangu Model 5.0 release and a few HarmonyOS native applications. The next day will show smart AI evolution for industrial partners.

The company recently announced the Huawei HarmonyOS 4.2 upgrade via its official ‘My Huawei’ channel on Weibo. More than 180 devices are eligible to obtain the newest version and experience advanced features and improvements on board.

It is worth mentioning that Huawei has divided the HarmonyOS 4.2 upgrade plan into two parts. The first already counts public beta activity for the top-end models of the family such as Pocket 2 foldable, Mate 60, P60 lineups, new tablets, and more.

Another part of the upgrade includes mid-range smartphones and other device categories like smartwatches, earbuds, smart TVs, and more. The details reveal that these products will fetch the newest version between April to June this year.

Roadmap of HarmonyOS 3:

The HarmonyOS 3 upgrade plan included over 100 devices from both Huawei and Honor branding. It has almost all of the smartphones launched way back in 2018 including Huawei Nova 4e (Huawei P30 lite) and Honor 8X.

According to our coverage, Huawei announced HarmonyOS 3 for smartphones in July 2022. As of today, Huawei has achieved installation for almost the end of the announced plan.

Roadmap of EMUI 13:

As compared to HarmonyOS 3, EMUI 13 upgrade plan only contains 11 models. We can easily name them on our fingers including – Mate Xs 2, P50 Pocket, P50 Pro, P50, Nova 10 Pro, Nova 10, Mate 40 Pro, Nova 9, Nova 10 SE, Nova 9 SE, and Nova Y90.

Also, Huawei decided to keep the plan alive throughout the entire year.

How it’s different?

HarmonyOS 3 allows the company to seed this OS into the lowest required hardware system. Bringing the OTA update to the least possible Huawei devices.

Compared to HarmonyOS 3, EMUI 13 is still using Android underneath the system but the features in the roadmap come directly from HMOS. This is something different and abstaining the firm from delivering EMUI 13 to more smartphones.

To be mentioned, EMUI 12 also had a great run in terms of software release. It covered many models and we still need to wait for more confirmation.

Because there are several models listed in the plan that shares identical specifications with other unlisted Huawei smartphones. Therefore, there is a high chance of change in strategy.

Beta?

Amid the discussion on rollout plan, Huawei has not yet started beta testing of this EMUI 13. As we checked the Beta application has not been updated and there’s no information revealed about the EMUI 13 beta program on the website.

EMUI 12 to EMUI 13:

EMUI 12 was an evolution, as it brings a lot of new features including a Control panel, Notification panel, new font system, better animations, better user interface, and Large folders.

EMUI 13 goes two steps further, it not only brings you a better user interface but also installs improvements over the last version.

EMUI 13 promises to boast system performance with app optimizations. The flip side of the coin reveals an image that could bring you maximized security that will empower you to better safety.

The new EMUI version also gets smart folders, which consist of new layout formats and its highly customizable. For the first time, Huawei is bringing Super Device feature to global users and replacing the existing Device+.

The difference between these two features is immense, as Huawei brought in Super Device with HarmonyOS 2, and after 2 years, the feature is finally coming to global smartphones with EMUI 13.

The EMUI 12 rollout in West Europe initially began with Huawei Mate Xs and Mate 40 series. The device grabbed the new interface in January. Thereafter, came the Mate 30 Pro, and the P40 series. As per the rollout schedule, the Chinese tech maker kept on pushing the update with a gap of 8-15 days.

In the past few days, Huawei has dispatched the major EMUI 12 update for several devices including the old and mid-rangers. For instance, Huawei Nova 4, Huawei Y9 Prime, and the Mate 20 series.

Notably, Huawei has also turned its face to those models that were not in the users’ expectations. Such as the P Smart series, P30 Lite, Mate 20 Lite, and the Mate 10 series. Surprisingly, these devices never came into the spotlight of the eligible devices. However, these devices also get the taste of a coherent and comprehensive system.

EMUI 12 Features

Although we are well aware of what new offerings the latest EMUI interface brings for its users. Yet a revision is a must for those users who are still standing over the old software builds.

The EMUI 12 operating system brings a huge packet of eye-catching features. It brings on a comprehensive user interface that brings a modern look over the home screen.
