Huawei is seemingly preparing for more Kirin 8000 chip products after the MatePad 11.5 2024 release. A leak says the company may launch more devices, running on the Kirin 8000 processor this year. The products could be new phones and tablets.

FixedFocus revealed that Huawei still has many Kirin 8000 products in the pipeline. The processor could be used in new MatePad tablets and the upcoming Enjoy series. The company will probably unveil these devices by the end of this year.

On October 30, Huawei quietly unveiled the MatePad 11.5 2024 tablet. The company didn’t reveal the chipset info. However, an early leak suggested that the device uses Kirin 8000. It seems the OEM is planning more new products with the same chip.

The leak doesn’t specify any release time for these products. Yet, Huawei will likely unveil a new tablet and another Enjoy series before wrapping up this year.

Huawei hasn’t confirmed the news yet. Hence, let’s take this input with a grain of salt and wait for the official statements on this matter.

Kirin 8000 debuted with the Nova 12 Pro handset in December last year. It is an octa-core chipset that is inferior to Kirin 9000SL but promises better performance than the previous-generation Kirin 8 processors, for the mid-range lineup.

The chipset contains a 4+3+1 CPU architecture. It has four 1.84GHz small cores, three 2.19GHz medium cores, and one 2.40GHz large core. The chip is paired with Maleoon 910 GPU and has been installed on Nova 13 series, Nova Flip, and Nova 12 Pro.

Huawei is currently focusing on the Mate 70 series. The flagship lineup will likely launch next month with several new features as well as a powerful Kirin chip.

The device will further carry upgraded imaging features, improved and faster touch responses, and new satellite capabilities to enhance the user experience.

TSMC investigation took a new turn when the company informed the U.S. authorities about AI chip components used in the Huawei devices. The firm said the Chinese tech giant has utilized certain advanced techs despite tough export controls.

U.S. authorities began probing TSMC a few days ago as they suspected the firm of chip dealings for Huawei devices. Although the company claimed that it isn’t a part of such transactions and assured to take action to comply with the trade regulations.

Now the Taiwanese chip producer found a major loophole in this topic. As per a new report, TSMC notified the US about its chip parts being used in one of the Huawei AI processors. The company found details after a quick teardown by TechInsights.

TechInsights dismantled the Ascend 910B AI chip. During exploration, the research team found an advanced TSMC SoC within a multi-chip system of the processor.

The research firm informed TSMC about the new findings before sharing them publicly. Hereafter, the Taiwanese company brought the concern to the US.

During the investigation, TSMC uttered that it hadn’t shipped any chips to Huawei since mid-September 2020. Thus, the finding hints at the stocked components.

“We are not aware of TSMC being the subject of any investigation at this time. We maintain a robust and comprehensive export system for monitoring and ensuring compliance.” – said TSMC.

Huawei earlier stated that it doesn’t build chips through TSMC after the US ban. Following the trade sanctions in 2019, the company was unable to access or export any products to foreign countries, if made by the U.S. advanced technologies.

Sources mentioned that Huawei launched its Ascend 910B in August 2019, before the sanctions. At that time, the chip used to be produced under the TSMC foundry.

Financial Times added that TSMC further informed the U.S. about a new customer placing orders for Huawei Ascend 910B chips. It interrogated the customer for orders but didn’t get any significant details on this matter.

The ongoing investigation will probably continue to get more turning points as it proceeds. It would be worth seeing how far the U.S. will probe firms for helping Huawei.

Xiaomi will unveil the HyperOS 2.0 operating system this year and it’s time to dive into the eligible devices that will experience this new upgrade. Here we are sharing a list of expected models that may receive this significant upgrade in the time ahead.

The Chinese tech giant hasn’t confirmed the launch of HyperOS 2.0. Hence, it’s unclear when the official software rollout will take place. Although we’ve reached some conclusions based on the last year’s software introduction and update distribution.

HyperOS 1.0 came into existence with the Xiaomi 14 series and debuted on 31st October. We are in the same month and the company will likely unveil its Xiaomi 15 series after the Chinese Golden Week running from October 1 to October 7, 2024.

At the same time, Xiaomi may also introduce HyperOS 2.0 for its devices. It could also share the upgrade plan revealing all the compatible models that will receive the ultimate software treatment with several new features and smart capabilities.

Android 14 or 15?

Xiaomi has been treating its Android skin differently from others. While many smartphone vendors run their customized OS on one Android version, Xiaomi uses two of them at the same time. HyperOS 2.0 will also come based on two versions: Android 14 and Android 15. This difference ensures that every model can fetch the latest enhancements.

One UI 7 will be the next major chapter in the Samsung software upgrade world. Android 15-based One UI 7 will bring exciting features and UI tools, and before its official release, here’s an overview of the upcoming OS version for Samsung devices.

Samsung has been working on the One UI 7.0 for a few months. This ultimately sparks the expectations for an official announcement of the new software release.

However, the company hasn’t given any official statements on this matter so far. The good news is that the Samsung Developer Conference will held on October 03 (tomorrow). At that time, the tech giant might share One UI 7.0-related news.

Chances are high as the company highlighted a few key segments of the One UI 6 at the SDC event last year. This time too, we may witness some exclusive features ahead of the software’s official launch. Let’s cross our fingers and wait for tomorrow.

Android 15

Being one of the biggest Android players, Samsung will launch the One UI 7.0 based on Android 15. Google’s new Android version is going through multiple beta tests including the QPR builds. It is expected to go stable this month, but the date is still unknown.

Following the Android 15 beta updates, Samsung One UI 7.0 beta program was expected to begin in August this year. Although the company delayed the matter. It seems the company is taking time to optimize its new OS with better animations, features, and enhancements.

One UI 7.0: Release?

Probably, Samsung will initiate the One UI 7.0 beta program after the stable release of Android 15. The situation may also turn around at the SDC 2024 event and the company may release the One UI 7 beta on the first day of the conference.

Samsung has unexpectedly delayed the One UI 7.0 beta this year. While the Galaxy S23 was the first to get the One UI 6 beta in 2023, Galaxy S24 users are still waiting for the major upgrade offering. Although the company may clear the mist on this matter this month.

One UI 7.0: Eligible Devices

The tech giant will roll out One UI 7.0 beta and stable builds starting from its flagship Galaxy models. Thereafter, it will be released for other models of the A, M, and F series.

Note that the Galaxy S24 series as well as the Galaxy Z Fold/Flip 6 models received the blessing of 7-year update support. Meanwhile, previous models of the Galaxy family remain confined to the 4 years of major OS and 5 years of security rollouts.

Samsung One UI 7

It’s one of the major benefits for the Galaxy S24 and Z Fold/Flip 6 users as they can enjoy some extra years of huge Android upgrades. Let’s take a look at which models could be the first to fetch the One UI 7 beta and stable software update:

  • Samsung Galaxy S24 series
  • Samsung Galaxy S23 series
  • Samsung Galaxy S23 FE
  • Samsung Galaxy S22 series
  • Samsung Galaxy S21 series
  • Samsung Galaxy S21 FE

Note that this isn’t an official roadmap. But based on the previous rollout pattern, Samsung could follow this upgrade plan to some extent. The company will likely add more devices to the list in the upcoming days.

One UI 7.0: Features

One UI 7.0 will be a packet of interesting features. It may sport a completely revamped UI with better animations and transitions. It could also adopt a Dynamic Island tool to show the live activities of an application without actually opening it.

A rumor claimed that One UI 7 could use an iOS-like battery health feature to offer a clear detail about the device’s battery status. A Vertical App Drawer is also in the works to make application access easier and more convenient for phone users.

Samsung will likely focus on enhancing the UI segment with One UI 7. Some other changes that we find with the upcoming software include new system app icons, new control area at the lock screen, easy adjustment of shortcut icons on the lock screen, new battery icon + charging animation, new camera interface, large folders, and more.

Ironically, One UI 7.0 could also steal the EMUI’s old separate Quick Settings and Notification Panel design. Although that’s just a speculation and things will get clear with the official launch of Samsung One UI 7.0.

A Chinese firm has reportedly restricted its employees on Apple devices use in favor of Huawei products. What is even more surprising is – the company has strictly warned its employees that violating this rule can land them out of the job.

Restriction on Apple devices in China is no big news after the U.S. sanctions. Several Chinese companies prohibited the iPhone use. They also encouraged employees to support native products over foreign ones to contribute to the country’s economy.

However, the latest case is quite interesting. A Chinese firm named Jilin Shengxin Construction Engineering Co., Ltd., issued a notice on September 20, restricting the use of Apple devices in the premises. The notice reads (translated from Chinese):

“From now onwards, all employees of the company are not allowed to bring Apple brand devices into the company. Violators will be fired once discovered.
The company encourages all employees to have Huawei brand mobile phones and Huawei brand electronic products, and provide subsidies to employees who replace Huawei brand products on time.”

The prohibition on Apple devices will ultimately help China to reduce its dependency on foreign products. This step will further support Chinese tech vendors and help them to grow in every aspect. But often such cases lead to some major judgements.

Public Response:

The company’s decision spread like fire in the wild among netizens. Some have supported the notice saying that it’s a way to encourage people to use Chinese products.

Although others said the decision is quite strict and violates the personal rights of an employee. The news reached the Regulations and Policy section of Human Resources and Social Security Bureau. They responded on this matter:

“If an employee was fired for this reason, they could file a complaint with the Huawei Resources and Social Security Bureau.”

The Director of Henan Zejin Law Firm – Fu Jian also said that the workers have the right to decide what brand they want to use. Firing them just for using Apple devices is subject to infringing on others’ right to choose freely and it’s an illegal dismissal.

Huawei Central’s Take:

China is constantly making efforts to progress in the self-reliance journey. Companies like Huawei and others began using native components to build their hardware and software products. They are also giving a tough fight to their rivals like Apple in various streams in both Chinese and global markets.

However, pressuring employees to choose a particular product in the name of support often leads to exploitation of rights. And that may act as an obstacle in the road to success.
