Huawei has fixed 10 system vulnerabilities and various third-party library issues with August 2024 security patch. These CVEs might exploit the overall user experience by ruining the lock screen, targeting the security module, or affecting the device’s data.

Looking into the device list, the company has moved the Mate Xs 2 and the Nova 10 SE from the monthly to quarterly updates section. These two models will get security improvements but once in three months, just like the Mate 40 Pro handset.

The good news is that Huawei has added the MatePad 11.5-inch S to the list. From now onwards, the newly launched tablets will receive monthly security patches and improvement updates to provide a reliable experience to users.

Other devices appear the same as the previous security update listing. You can still check the compatible Huawei devices for August 2024 EMUI security updates below.

EMUI 14.2 has a lot of room for customization, especially when it comes to the home screen. Apart from immersive weather and funny emojis, the company allows users to add a feel of fun to the Huawei phones with the EMUI 14.2 Magazine Themes.

With the new software upgrade, Huawei has divided the themes section into two main parts. The first one called “Interactive” contains animated or live wallpapers and themes. Using these themes unlocks 3D visual effects on your phone’s screen.

The second part is called Magazine Themes. Unlike the Interactive ones, these themes don’t animate. Yet, they offer multiple funny options to customize your home or the lock screen look. Just set a few things and an interesting view is ready!

EMUI 14.2 Magazine Themes consist of three items. These are Art Star, Poster, and Headlines. All these themes have personalized tools to create a stunning and more catchy view on the home screen. Let’s study these three options one by one.

Art Star:

It supports a one-click cutout feature. Thus, you can shape the wallpaper with your portraits or other objects. You can place the cutout image anywhere on the screen.

One can also change the background with artistic textures. The theme also supports color selection for background patterns and app icons to give a monochromatic look to the home screen. The same changes will appear for AOD as well.

Poster Theme:

This section allows users to use their favorite photos for a poster cover. Users can alter the clock font or change the template color with dual-shade options. Again you can shift the image to bring the focus on the main object and change icon colors.

EMUI 14.2 Magazine Themes

Headline Theme:

This theme enables users to decorate their images with the headline fonts. Users can pick from different clock styles like bold, techno, classic, and more. You can further change icon colors. These color combos will extract colors from the wallpaper to create matching icons.

It is easy to access the EMUI 14.2 Magazine Themes. All you have to do is visit the Settings app. Now select the Home screen & style section. Tap on the “Themes” part and select one of the above-listed Magazine Themes for your Huawei phone.

Huawei EMUI 14.2 changelog mainly reads customization and a set of productive features. But do you know that EMUI 14.2 also carries a new Camera Toolbox? Today we’re up to see what changes the company made to camera section in the latest upgrade.

Did you ever face a cluttered camera setting while taking images? Though the company has offered the best camera phones to date. But these handsets often lacked a systematic and organized optical setting toolbox, to adjust image parameters.

Every time a user tries to change the camera setting, it leads them to a new page covering the main camera view. However, it seems that won’t be a problem anymore.

Thanks to EMUI 14.2, Huawei has enhanced the Camera Toolbox and made it a cluttered-free space for users. Whether you want impressive shots, a dynamic portrait, or a funny selfie, the camera setting won’t obstruct the view of the capturing area.

Huawei now added an arrow button below the camera shutter. Tapping the icon will open a quick menu to access significant camera tools. For instance: Aspect Ratio, Flash, Master AI, and more. You can check all the features below.

EMUI 14.2 Camera Toolbox

Camera Toobox arrow button (Image Credits: Huawei Central)

  • Aspect Ratio: Ratio of the image’s width to its height.
  • Flash: Flashes light to reduce the lack of light or brightness while capturing images.
  • Master AI: Helps to take better photos by smartly identifying objects and optimizing camera settings accordingly.
  • Moving Pictures: Capture images one second before and after the shutter button is pressed and merge them into one picture.
  • Filters: Glorifies images by enhancing colors, reducing light, and more
  • Assistive Grid: Grid lines frame an image into equal sections so you can align the subject and balance the view.
  • Settings: Contains other adjustment tools.

Earlier, these tools were present on the status bar of the camera app. As soon as users click them, it used to cover the entire capturing area. But the company has now shifted these features beneath the shutter button for better reachability.

Placing these tools below will help users easily access them. One can quickly navigate to these features and pick the preferred tool rather than going through multiple taps. To access this feature, make sure EMUI 14.2 is installed on your Huawei phone.

Huawei has renovated EMUI 14.2 in such a way that it eases daily tasks and makes smartphone operations fun! Today we’ll talk about how users can make multitasking simpler and more innovative with the EMUI 14.2 Split-Screen Combo feature.

Split-screen refers to dividing the phone’s screen into two parts. Doing so manages two operations at the same time. Thanks to EMUI 14.2, operating several tasks is now a matter of seconds. Just a few swipes and your multitasking platform is ready.

EMUI 13 introduced a Multi-Window feature last year. This capability allows users to open applications in split screens or a floating window as per their preference.

Users can even switch between split-screen and floating window, drag and drop between apps with multi-window, or remove an application. But EMUI 14.2 has made this section more useful for Huawei users with a “Split-Screen Combo” mode.

From the name, the Split-Screen Combo enables users to save the built split-screen combinations. So next time when you want to work on the same two apps, you don’t have to create the split-screen or floating window section again.

Users can easily access this combination from the home screen. But before that, Huawei device owners must know how to save the split-screen combination.

EMUI 14.2 Split-Screen combo

How to make a Split-Screen Combo?

Create a split screen on the device. Open an app in full view, swipe in from left/right, and hold. A Multi-Window Dock will appear on the side. Touch and hold the app you want to use and drag it out of the dock to form a split screen mode.

EMUI 14.2 Split-Screen combo

Split-Screen Combo access (Image Credits: Huawei Central)

In between the split-screen, you may see a three-dot icon. Tap on it to access controls like “Save Combo” and “Flip top/bottom”. Tapping on the first option will save the split-screen combination on the home screen for easy access.

How to find it? Users may see a combination icon on the home screen. Tap on that icon to resume your work whenever required. To exit this mode, drag the three-dot icon (between the two split-screen windows) to the edge of the screen.

Thus, users can make multitasking fun and more creative within a few clicks. However, to run this feature on your Huawei phone, you must have the EMUI 14.2 software version.

Huawei has added an upgraded sharing feature to EMUI 14.2 called SuperHub 2.0. The feature debuted with EMUI 13 in the global market. Now the company enhanced this feature to more extent with the new 14.2 software upgrade version.

Mate 50 series was the first device to introduce the SuperHub feature with EMUI 13. It acts as an advanced clipboard on your device and can easily drag content from one app to other. And good news is, this ability doesn’t remain confined to text.

EMUI 14.2 SuperHub 2.0 feature is capable of storing texts, images, or any other files temporarily in the sidebar. When required, users can drag the content to access or transfer it to another application in their Huawei handset (phone/tablet).

It not only saves you time but also helps in managing your files and other content between applications. With EMUI 14.2, the tech giant has made SuperHub even more efficient, and smoother, making the ordinary drag-and-drop gesture a wonder.

Users can easily drag the information or files to an editing screen (NotePad) rather than transferring them from one app to another. All they need is one TAP!

  • Show on drag: Automatically show the window when you drag text, images, or files.
  • Clipboard: When enabled, the most recent 20 items of text copied to the clipboard can be viewed in SuperHub.

Users can select text, images, or other files within an application. Hold the file or image till it starts floating. The SuperHub floating window will appear on the upper right corner of the screen. Now drag the selected item to the respective window.

This will store the content temporarily on the SuperHub. Users can easily access these files when needed. For instance, you are working on a different screen and require an image. Just touch and hold the SuperHub window to drag out the content.

Users can either pull out all the items together or expand the SuperHub feature to select one or more items. In case the floating window is hidden at the edge of the screen, simply swipe inward to bring it out.

SuperHub feature is available on EMUI 13 and above versions. But for news and better improvements, we suggest upgrading your eligible Huawei phone to the EMUI 14.2 software version.
