The post HarmonyOS 4.2 fresh camera layout gives new angle to photography appeared first on Huawei Central.
]]>The Chinese phone maker has made photography easier with HarmonyOS 4.2 camera layout. For instance, Huawei phone users can now quickly access the camera menu without covering the preview screen. Just tap on the arrow below the shutter.
New Camera Menu:
With HarmonyOS 4.2, Huawei has shifted the key camera features to a drop-down section. This addition will appear will the lens shutter in the form of an arrow.
Clicking on this arrow will let you access tools like aspect ratio, Flash, Master AI, Filters, Grid, and more. Before this upgrade, users need to access these features by restricting the camera preview screen. But this issue doesn’t exist anymore.
The best advantage of this change is that users can manage these controls with one hand. Another benefit of the camera section is the zoom control feature. The zooming capability now appears in a rotating avatar rather than the traditional buttons.
Zoom Ring:
When opening the camera, users will see zoom options. Tapping and holding them for a second will result in a rotating feature. Spinning the wheel will let you adjust the focal length for the subject, giving you the feel of a professional photographer.
Even though you can adjust these levels directly by the 1x, 2x, 5x, tags on the screen. However, this addition makes the optical framework look more fun and interesting. Adjusting the zoom levels via the rotating ring also offers an amazing touch response.
EMUI 14.2 does offer a fresh camera layout with the drop-down section but a zoom wheel is missing from the segment. It’s a plus point for HarmonyOS 4.2 device users.
To access this feature, users can directly open the camera app on their Huawei phone. However, make sure that your device is running on the latest HarmonyOS 4.2 upgrade.

]]>With the new software upgrade, Huawei has divided the themes section into two main parts. The first one called “Interactive” contains animated or live wallpapers and themes. Using these themes unlocks 3D visual effects on your phone’s screen.
The second part is called Magazine Themes. Unlike the Interactive ones, these themes don’t animate. Yet, they offer multiple funny options to customize your home or the lock screen look. Just set a few things and an interesting view is ready!
EMUI 14.2 Magazine Themes consist of three items. These are Art Star, Poster, and Headlines. All these themes have personalized tools to create a stunning and more catchy view on the home screen. Let’s study these three options one by one.
It supports a one-click cutout feature. Thus, you can shape the wallpaper with your portraits or other objects. You can place the cutout image anywhere on the screen.
One can also change the background with artistic textures. The theme also supports color selection for background patterns and app icons to give a monochromatic look to the home screen. The same changes will appear for AOD as well.
This section allows users to use their favorite photos for a poster cover. Users can alter the clock font or change the template color with dual-shade options. Again you can shift the image to bring the focus on the main object and change icon colors.
This theme enables users to decorate their images with the headline fonts. Users can pick from different clock styles like bold, techno, classic, and more. You can further change icon colors. These color combos will extract colors from the wallpaper to create matching icons.
It is easy to access the EMUI 14.2 Magazine Themes. All you have to do is visit the Settings app. Now select the Home screen & style section. Tap on the “Themes” part and select one of the above-listed Magazine Themes for your Huawei phone.

]]>EMUI 14.2 is available for the first batch of devices that have participated in the recent EMUI beta program. But the interesting point is that it is an unlimited rollout and even reaching those who were out of the beta pool, waiting for public testing.
Being a special rollout, Huawei is releasing EMUI 14.2 to both beta and non-beta users. The first difference you will notice in the latest firmware is the software size.
Users who have installed the first EMUI 14 beta will receive the 14.2 build with a small package say 500-600MB. Those upgrading from the EMUI 13.1 version will be required to download a 6.35GB downloadable pack to enjoy the latest features.
Features:
Another difference lies in the changelog. EMUI 14.2 isn’t much different from the EMUI 14 version, except for more customization and fun. It packs some amazing themes-related capabilities to enrich the interaction and user interface for users.
Huawei phone users on EMUI 14 beta will get a new security patch with a few system stability enhancements. Whereas, those with EMUI 13.1 as a baseline build will fetch a huge changelog with similar features to the EMUI 14 beta software.

]]>This new EMUI version will make its way to customers with new devices and existing phones via OTA updates.
Here are the key EMUI 14 features:
The new themes allow you to add a photograph as a portrait to existing presets. You can customize the theme’s layout and elements to suit your style.
Once customized you can set the theme and it will apply a smooth animation while unlocking the device. Each of these magazine themes adapts a color pallet from the wallpaper and applies it to the app icons.
The two additions of these themes are – emojis and weather themes. The first one adds a bunch of emojis on your screen based on your selection.
The second theme will apply a live weather wallpaper that will replicate the weather of your current location. It will also change depending on the viewing angle on the screen.
This new capability enables you to check the status of any live activity on your device. The live view window will appear on the lock screen, home screen, and other places while it is active. The live view will expand when you touch it.
EMUI 14 comes with SuperHub 2.0 which now supports drag and drop capability between apps and different devices.
The new EMUI version carries Ark Engine and it improves the animations across the software. The animations are much smoother than EMUI 13 and they will appear throughout the software including transitions.
You can check how frequently your apps access your phone’s data. Privacy Center comes with a dashboard with permission access history and risky app behaviors identification.
Security center on the other hand will scan your device to detect potential harmful apps and viruses. It will also identify malicious apps to protect the phone.
These are the key EMUI 14 features but there could be a lot more to explore in the software. What’s your favorite EMUI 14 feature?

]]>For the last two years, Huawei has continuously focused on HarmonyOS in China. Subsequently, HarmonyOS is achieving new heights in the industry and the company is soon to be moving on native HarmonyOS app ecosystem.
Although, this is a major improvement for the software ecosystem for Huawei smartphone users. However, the improvement and the software remained exclusive for Chinese consumers.
Meanwhile, the recent version of EMUI has become one of the least-released software for Huawei smartphones. The company selected only 11 devices to rollout EMUI 13. Importantly, the most frustrating effect of the entire scenario lies in Huawei’s stance of not addressing the rest of the global users.
People have been asking online about EMUI 13 or their issues regarding their phones but there’s no response at all. Yet, we’re here talking about EMUI 14 and hoping that Huawei will eventually improve its offerings for global users similar to what it has been doing in China.
The new EMUI version could get a release in the first quarter of 2024.
This new software will bring better animations with high-scale interactions. The animation effects will be visible more than EMUI 13 and EMUI 13.1.
The new EMUI version will also work on super device smart connections. It will also have plenty of personalization features. You can customize the lock screen and themes with pre-installed options more than the current EMUI version. EMUI 14 will also work on the security and safety of the eligible devices.

]]>The post HarmonyOS 4 Features: Live Window, Personalization, AI Celia, Smart Notifications and more appeared first on Huawei Central.
]]>Below you can check the serialized feature name and its order of explanation in this article.
HarmonyOS 4 took a new approach to screen personalization, especially the lock screen. You now have plenty of options to change the lock screen and Always on Display (AOD).
For example, now you can place your photograph and change its background with presets such as comic scenarios. Then, you can mix and match it with the new AOD reveal animation. This creates a seamless revealing transition from AOD to waking up the phone.
The software introduced new panoramic weather wallpapers, which represent the real-time perception of weather change. The feature uses the phone’s gyroscope to enable current light-intensity wallpapers based on the tilt.
HarmonyOS 4 brings a new pack of 1800 self-designed emojis exclusively for HarmonyOS users. With these, users can express themselves in messaging or set them as wallpaper and AOD.
This HarmonyOS version installs fresh watch faces. Now you can interact with the watch’s theme to play games or start watching animation. Huawei smartwatches will get a graphics engine to apply smoother transitions.
The phone will manage your notifications based on priority. The notification center on HarmonyOS 4 organizes them in two sections. The reminders will be prioritized on top and other notifications will gather in the bottom.
Service widgets are getting a notable upgrade and HarmonyOS 4 users can click on them to enable on-screen features. Compared to this, the past generation of the service widget only shows information and opens the corresponding app once clicked.
This is the most interesting feature of HarmonyOS 4 and shows how seamless the software has become. This feature justifies its name and allows you to see real-time information on common features. For example, the live tile will show you the ETA of any food delivery app.
You can expand the live window to see detailed notifications and identify with a capsule shape on the left side of the status bar. Interstingly, Huawei made this feature universal on all of the platforms – smartphones, tablets, and smartwatches.
SuperHub can now select multiple files in a single capture. You can now store different information from a page, app, or file manager and store them on SuperHub. Furthermore, you can transfer them to different devices with multi-device capability.
HarmonyOS 4 has a smart AI-based Celia Voice Assistant, which is using large model technology. You can now have a natural conversation with a smartphone. New Celia can write notes, manage your device’s documents, and can do copywriting.
Local search is also getting smarter with HarmonyOS 4, you can now search various types of files through the content search feature. This search also summarizes file details along with their location.
HarmonyOS 4 is also an automotive smart operating system and it now has tablet cockpit collaboration. This feature allows you to broadcast one screen to multiple users on the same car.
The new HarmonyOS equips the Ark engine, which empowers dynamic effects, smooth use, and fast response along with an efficient battery. The Ark engine improves smoothness by 20%, improved 30-minute battery life, and makes the system faster by 57%.
HarmonyOS 4 features include a brand new app controller AKA app control center to provide protection against harmful applications. The app controller works on its own and takes required actions without user attention.
It halts unnecessary background processes and revokes malicious permissions.
These are key HarmonyOS 4 features and there’s much that you can explore after installation.
